I mean, I understand reasons you might feel this way, though I personally do not care at all what Rangers fans say, but people are discussing potential trade returns from the Rangers. You countering their posts by saying “Nope, I’m not trading him to the Rangers!” doesn’t really add a lot to their conversation.

What does this accomplish? You don’t actually get a vote. You think for sure? Why?

I feel doubtful that an established 1C with any youth or term will be part of the return.

If Jack is traded, it’s not going to be because of a disagreement about his injury. It perhaps played a part in the story, but it is just one event in the overarching plot line. He has obviously been unhappy with the organization for quite some time, before KA even took over, and that is going to bleed into all other aspects of how they interact with each other. The relationship is fractured. He doesn’t trust the organization. That was probably the case before he was even injured.

Eichel is not married and doesn’t have children. Of course he still has a family, but just wanted to clarify.

So, it kind of looks like we have the answer to the question that I posed here. I’ve been mostly staying off the topic, partly because Jack has been injured, and partly because it rarely leads to productive conversations, but this seems like a good time to drag this back out. In my opinion, Jack may be pissed about whatever the disagreement was regarding his injury, but it’s not as if this all came out of nowhere. It maybe was just the straw that broke the camels back. Things have been trending in this direction for years and I don’t think it was too hard to see this coming. It seems pretty broken. Even with the injury, this offseason may be the best time to move Eichel. It avoids the drama of having an unhappy star/captain pissed off and just putting in his time until a trade. It would be significant distraction and would make the season all about Jack. The young guys on this team don’t need that. I think I lean in that direction, even if he comes back and plays well, maybe you get a little more of a return. Its not a good situation. I don’t have anything against Eichel, but I don’t have any sentimental attachment to him either. At this point it seems it may be in the best interest of both parties to go their separate ways.

Not a good idea. At the deadline no teams have cap space ($10M!) and good teams don’t want to trade away good pieces just before the playoffs.

I’ve pretty much been expecting this since the season went downhill. I think this team is going to be starting over. I’m not that sad about it. Just to clarify, I think in the next 12 months, Jack, Sam and Risto will be gone.

Fair enough. I just think it’s a total non-starter, and I think any idea that the Rangers would/should have to trade Fox AND Lafreniere/Kakko AND maybe something else too, is just way out there.

I think Fox would be a definite no go, and if I was in the Rangers’ shoes I wouldn’t do it. I don’t think most understand yet how good Fox is. I think he is the best player on the Rangers and I feel comfortable that he is one of the top-5 D in the league.

His trades were not to bad from a talent standpoint, but I don’t think he always brought in the right kind of people into the organization at a very delicate time for the franchise. I think if he had brought in more stable, dependable people instead of Lehner, Kane, and Bogosian things could have turned out much differently. Also, I think his drafting was extremely disappointing and set the franchise back as well.

I think a good coach has a certain amount of flexibility to work with, not every player, but a very wide range of players. You can’t pick a coach because the players like him (didn’t we just see that?). However picking a coach based upon what is right for the players you have? That can be a good idea. Especially when a team has a well established group of “core” players, which Buffalo doesn’t really have anyway. I guess I don’t see how the statement is vague. I think it’s quite clear. How would you make it more clear?

I think the written statement pretty much outlines the type of person who might willingly undertake such an endeavor.

Agreed regarding the narrative. A piece of paper with some words doesn’t make one bit of difference. However, the idea is to have a set of guiding principles, then execute good decisions based upon those principles.

Teams go through different variations in strategy based on coaching and personnel. I don’t see anything wrong with Adams’ written vision for what a Sabre is. Hardworking on and off ice, self-driven, competitive, team oriented. Seems right. You can’t base a team philosophy around only player skill sets because you need a wide range of skill sets to fill out a team, and sometimes just through random variance you are just going to end up with more players who are good at one skill or another.

And yesterday Robinson got his first hit and scored his first run since returning. Congrats.
