I’ve pretty much been expecting this since the season went downhill. I think this team is going to be starting over. I’m not that sad about it. Just to clarify, I think in the next 12 months, Jack, Sam and Risto will be gone.
-
I can respect the viewpoint, but I just don’t see it playing out that way in real life.
-
Fair enough. I just think it’s a total non-starter, and I think any idea that the Rangers would/should have to trade Fox AND Lafreniere/Kakko AND maybe something else too, is just way out there.
-
I could find a GIF of an esssspressso machine being smashed up.
-
I think Fox would be a definite no go, and if I was in the Rangers’ shoes I wouldn’t do it. I don’t think most understand yet how good Fox is. I think he is the best player on the Rangers and I feel comfortable that he is one of the top-5 D in the league.

His trades were not to bad from a talent standpoint, but I don’t think he always brought in the right kind of people into the organization at a very delicate time for the franchise. I think if he had brought in more stable, dependable people instead of Lehner, Kane, and Bogosian things could have turned out much differently. Also, I think his drafting was extremely disappointing and set the franchise back as well.

I think a good coach has a certain amount of flexibility to work with, not every player, but a very wide range of players. You can’t pick a coach because the players like him (didn’t we just see that?). However picking a coach based upon what is right for the players you have? That can be a good idea. Especially when a team has a well established group of “core” players, which Buffalo doesn’t really have anyway. I guess I don’t see how the statement is vague. I think it’s quite clear. How would you make it more clear?
-
I think the written statement pretty much outlines the type of person who might willingly undertake such an endeavor.

Agreed regarding the narrative. A piece of paper with some words doesn’t make one bit of difference. However, the idea is to have a set of guiding principles, then execute good decisions based upon those principles.

Pittsburgh Steelers, last in the NFL in rushing yards and bottom 4 in the league in each of the past three seasons. It’s a nostalgic narrative that you are presenting. Teams go through different variations in strategy based on coaching and personnel. I don’t see anything wrong with Adams’ written vision for what a Sabre is. Hardworking on and off ice, self-driven, competitive, team oriented. Seems right. You can’t base a team philosophy around only player skill sets because you need a wide range of skill sets to fill out a team, and sometimes just through random variance you are just going to end up with more players who are good at one skill or another.

And yesterday Robinson got his first hit and scored his first run since returning. Congrats.
-
Sorry, I honestly don’t get it. 🤷🏻♂️

You are wrong but aren’t going to change your opinion? Thats ok. I’m just throwing info out there.

NHL players seem to disagree with you. According to a NHLPA poll last season. Crosby won most complete player, receiving 45% of the vote. https://www.nhlpa.com/player-poll/2019-20

Crosby is not bad defensively. My goodness, I think far from it.

No particular order. I had a hard enough time picking the 10. I wasn’t up for trying to order numbers 2-10.

Today I read this story of professional baseball player Drew Robinson’s struggle with mental illness, attempted suicide, and continued recovery. It was very moving for me. Just the fact that he survived is crazy. I’m amazed at both how strong and vulnerable this guy is, as well as how much someone can be struggling without anyone else really knowing. He was back playing AAA baseball this week, which is just incredible. If anyone wants to read his story, I highly recommend it. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30800732/san-francisco-giants-outfielder-drew-robinson-remarkable-second-act https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31393995/drew-robinson-makes-san-francisco-giants-triple-roster-losing-eye-2020-suicide-attempt?platform=amp

Will Jack's Role On This Team Be Different Next Year?
Curt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, absolutely. It is hypothetical based on “if” he wanted out, because that was the scenario presented in the post that I responded to. If means if. -

I’m not saying that Jack can do whatever he wants, go to whichever team he wants, pick and choose every detail of the situation. He doesn’t have a NMC right now. I’m just simply saying, if he becomes adamant that he wants to leave Buffalo, he would be traded. And as @Weave said, Eichel’s leverage is that the team wants to avoid/end the negative attention circus that would definitely come with an Eichel trade demand. It would be a further embarrassment for the organization and consistent negative distraction for the team. -

If he makes it clear that he is flat out done with Buffalo , he would be traded. Perhaps not immediately traded for whatever pile of junk other teams have laying around, but he would be traded. No organization wants to indefinitely deal with the negative media distraction and team chemistry effect of having a disgruntled franchise player/captain hanging around for years. It would be an unsustainable situation. I think to say, “well he has a contract, they don’t have to trade him if they don’t want to.” is the real oversimplified position. It’s being completely naive to all the other factors of the situation. -
Hope it hasn’t been a factor, but Cozens also sustained a concussion this season. That stuff can have minor lingering effects.
-
I don’t disagree with that. Sorry, maybe my point is being lost. The reason I posted was because you said that you looked it up and Mitts did better than Cozens as a rookie. My only input was to say that, no Mitts didn’t really do better.
-
I just told you the NHL numbers. In their draft+2 seasons, both were rookies in the NHL.

Before I really started thinking about it I didn’t think Fox would be there. I’ve watched him against the Sabres and clearly he is dynamic. Then just looking at the mins he is logging, his production, his play in all situations (getting used quite a bit on the PK and excelling there), the overall package won me over.
