Nailed it... injury list as of today... Little Stafford Armia Perreault Matthias, Connor, Myers and I think Stuart. Burmistrov is either hurt or just benched...not sure, don't care... as long as he isn't on the ice. That's 7 starters not playing.
-
Laine will dominate once he puts on another 15 or so lbs. and learns the NHL game a bit better. I am impressed with his D game for an 18 year old.
-
The Ehlers Scheifele Laine line is fun to watch. Scheif is in 1st overall in point s and Laine is 1st overall in goals. It will be interesting to see what management does once Little, Perreault, Stafford, Armia and Matthias come back from injury...the youngsters that have come up from the farm, Petan, Copp, Dano are all playing very well. It would be nice to have that depth at D...

Hunted 75 yards away from where we were Saturday and got 2 mallards yesterday evening....not sure where they all have gone but only saw about 40 ducks and the bluebills aren't using that part of the marsh any more either......just when you think you have it figured out.......

Thanks for the compliment on the prep and skill but I think it is important to eat what you shoot or give to people that enjoy eating it whether it is ducks or moose or whatever. I am Metis but the daily limit is 8 so we stopped at 3 limits about 10-15 minutes after sundown or 15-20 minutes before legal shooting ended. I don't usually shoot more than the daily limit but I do carry over the possession limit...24. The pic I posted with the grouse a couple of weeks ago has 12 which is the daily limit for two hunters. I eat a lot of wild meat at this time of the year and have a mallard stew in the fridge right now and had grouse in a stir fry today...I have goose breakfast sausages and burgers in the freezer and goose pate from a friend and smoked Goldeye in the fridge from another friend. Another duck hunting buddy is hunting moose and I would love to get a couple of steaks off of him if they get any. I will have walleye (crazy fishermen out fishing before we were at the launch!) for supper Wednesday but Tuesday and Thursday I will be out on evening hunts as I prefer them over mornings at this time of the year so I won't be eating supper those days. My better half doesn't eat store bought meat but she will eat anything I harvest while hunting so I don't eat a lot of store bought meat either. I wasn't dressed as warm as those two but remember that it was a 35 minute boat ride back to the launch and it was closer to 50F at that time of day. Also, chest waders are a must. We are having really unseasonably warm weather and the marsh is usually 75% frozen by now and the high for tomorrow is 50F! We have no freezing nights forecast until the 16th. The ducks will be gone within 16 or so days I would say but I expect the amount of mallards to increase exponentially for the next few days and the Canvasbacks, Redheads, Bluebills and Buffleheads numbers should peak in a few days. This is my favorite time of the year to hunt so I will try to make it out every second day for ducks until they are gone. I hunt until I can't find any open water to hunt. Then see what I can do about putting some more grouse in the freezer. It is a really good season for ruffies. Anyone off of the site want to come down before the season is over give me a shout. The best hunting is just around the corner.

The Northern birds are FINALLY moving down... 24 ducks with 12 Bluebills, 3 GW Teal, 1 Wigeon and 8 Mallards. All were very, very fat. Made duck stew yesterday with some mallards. mmm mmmmm Thousands of mallards coming back just before dark while we were picking up decoys. Back at it tomorrow... This hunt was Saturday and we had highs of 62F...normal highs are 32F...

I am betting that Chevy does't blink first...having said that, I believe he signs before the Dec.1 deadline for two years.

Injured players... Little Myers Stuart Matthias Stafford Armia Perreault Trouba (holdout) D men in bold. Bring up the kids and let them play!!!!!!!!
-
Kane Bogo Myers and Staf all out with injuries right now...
-
Neither does he...and he is useless. constantly out of position in his own zone and how long has he been in the league? Maurice's decision making confounds me sometimes... He dresses Thorburn and plays him for 4:35...Doesn't play him after the 9 minute mark of the 2nd....this is in a game where you lose a forward in the first period... Armia has been one of the best forwards this year and doesn't get higher than 3rd line and we are struggling for goals... takes Laine off of the PP last night and it sucks... They have called up Copp so I hope Copp and Dano get some time because we have forwards Little, Staf, Matthias out and the youngsters need the ice time.... Burmi should go back to the KHL or ECHL of somewhere because he wouldn't start on any either team in this league and yet he starts on this one. I think the team played well last night considering we had 3 starting forwards and 3 starting d men out of the line up...time the tenders starting winning a game for us. Can't see the Jets making the playoffs this year.
-
Didn't get to watch the game and didn't PVR it but Thorburn, very unfortunately, is dressing tonight...they call up Dano and make him sit and not even play while Thorburn dresses and gets his 7 minutes??? I am really starting to question some coaching decisions over here. Armia is our best or one of the best players for 5 games and he stays with Lowry and Matthias???? Postma, Chiarot and Mechiori are all dressed on D tonight with Myers out and Trouba not here......feel sorry for the goalie. Seems like giving money to Ladd and not Okposo was a huuuuuuuuge mistake for the Isles. Ladd has 1 point in 9 games and Okposo has 7 pts in 7 games. Okposo only makes a 1/2 million more per year and is younger and better.
-
scary good or scary bad? he hasn't been playing as well as expected.
-
Congrats on the W... I was out hunting and forgot to tape the game... Anybody on the Jets stand out in a good or bad way?
-
Then you make a blockbuster trade with the Jets for Trouba.
-
Thanks...it was followed up by an Estrella, a Peroni, a Stella and now my last of the evening and a celebratory beer for the win...another Estrella. Armia has ANOTHER strong night and one of his line mates finally put one in on a great feed by Armia. Myers plays the most at over 27 minutes and Hutch gets the shutout. I wonder who we play next????????? edit....haven't tried an Innis and Gunn..............yet.
-
Whew, I am only on my first beer...a Lownbrau for starters.
-
The Bieksa and Stoner contracts are really hurting the Ducks right now. A team could probably pick up a good, young, expansion exempt D man from them if they took a bad contract. huh?
-
So far in the few games they have played, Ehlers has probably been the best with Armia following. Laine was MIA for a couple of early games but would probably be third although I am one of the few Jets' fans that likes Enstrom's game. It would benefit the team the most if Hellebuyck or Scheifele were the best players but Laine can score goals from anywhere. Puck is off of his stick in an instant and he can make plays in a phone booth. Excellent passer and strong on D for his age. Most Finns are smart on D though. Before anyone asks which I think is better, Matthews plays 1C and will continue for years as an an elite center; therefore, he is more valuable to a team than an elite scorer.
-
Scheif at 1C is good, he isn't playing all that shite hot right now but neither is his Wheeler, his RWer... Little is hurt right now but is, IMO, a very under-rated player. Good on D but can and has been a 1C in the league. I think Petan should be given a chance to fill in for a hurt Little but don't expect him to succeed as a C in the NHL let alone the Central...If he makes it, playing as a LWer is probably where he will do it.......... Burmistrov shouldn't dress.... Lowry is a good 4th line C and is playing with Armia (Ehlers and Armia are our best players so far this year) and Matthias..... Matty Perreault is a very important part for the team and can play on any of the top three lines but is better at LW than he is at C...this is the player Petan should be replacing eventually but I don't see that happening.... They just announced that Little won't be back before December so if it were me, I would call up Roslovic and give him a chance. He is playing well for the Moose and, by all accounts, is our future 2C. Call him up and play him with some offensive minded players. He's played with Tkachuk and held his own, he's played with Matthews and held his own. This is something I wouldn't expect management to do though... Armia is setting his line mates up for two to three PRIME scoring chances a game and they have him playing with pylons. Staf gets hurt and they don't move him up!!! I just totally don't understand this and makes me really question the coach's decision making. Overall, I think our depth at C is below average with not a lot coming up through the system. We have alleviated the LHD with the play of Morrissey but C depth is a real need. I was suggesting trading for RNH or Staal from the Canes on local boards and was shot down immediately. Two VERY good two way players that are signed long term. How would that trade have looked now?
-
It would surprise me more if the Jets made the playoffs then if they didn't. Another for rookies in the lineup and below average or average goaltending Plus little being hurt and trouba sitting out makes for a lot of mistakes.
-
Well, like I said, someone should tell him that. Having said that, I think he is out for a few games so maybe Armia gets off of the 4th line....he was the best player for the Jets last night. Dream on.
-
Did they figure out if there would be clouds at that time thousands of years ago too? I thought someone told me Staf plays lights out when he is in last year of his deal??? Someone should tell him he is in the last year of his deal...he is playingon the 1st of 2nd line and has 1 assist so far........meanwhile RWer Marko Dano plays on the Moose in the AHL.
-
Matthews is the real deal as is Laine... I am impressed with Laine's D play...

got any pics hsif? I love eating steelhead trout. Much tastier than salmon any/every day.

TrueBlue, I've search here and the net and can't find any discussion of the status of Bogo's NMC, except an article on a credible fan site saying that the clause actually doesn't kick in until the end of this season other then the TBN article referenced below. TBN says he has a NMC and must be protected. http://buffalonews.com/2016/06/14/nhl-reportedly-expanding-las-vegas-sabres-plan-expansion-draft/ I'm guessing the Sabres didn't honor it......why would they? 11.8 Individually Negotiated Limitations on Player Movement.
