He's the guy Marchand elbowed and received the 5 game suspension on. I don't think he's getting 5 years but he's been a productive and 2 way player for his career
-
He's an UFA isn't he?? Why would we trade for him
-
You're right, he's a righty
-
Left Wingers Olofsson-Skinner-Vesey-Sheary-Nylander-Girgensons-CJ Smith-Wilson I see some RD and LW trades coming up
-
Sorry I thought we were talking about Kadri. As for Risto, if we can get a good to very good return on him, why wouldn't we trade him??
-
It happens so infrequently so it's hard to imagine but what would keep a team from doing a sign and trade to someone else?? As an example 4 1st rounders from a team that historically is in the playoffs would carry much less weigth than from a team who never makes the playoffs (without mentioning any names)

I'm pretty sure it's because he went from 2nd line Center to 3rd. Amazing how that works.

Buffalo Sabres 2018-19: What went wrong, how to fix it?
jsb replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
Randall, it has been said by others and me before but welcome back. Swamp was right, this was a better read after coffee. You kind of summed up what you said during the streak but at that time hardly anyone wanted to listen because it was the first time in like forever we were enjoying watching Sabre hockey again. Thanks for the time you put into this and the site is better with you in it. -
Fair point but the Sabres issues are far more complex than just trading a very good player. The organizational depth is and was terrible. Until it gets fixed and our young guns mature, we're just spinning our wheels. With ROR we still were the worst team in the league. He wasn't our savior and we weren't dealing from a position of strength on that trade. The trade may be the flop you're alluding to but it may not be as bad further down the road.

From everything I've read Sullivan and Kessel either hated each other or at the very least couldn't communicate whatsoever. While Tocchet with Arizona apparently got along with Phil K during his time with the Penguins. Arizona isn't that far away from a playoff spot so this could pay immediate dividends for them if Phil brings his A game
-
Well there's little question that the immediate winner of that trade was St. Louis but let's sit on this for 3-4 years and see the progress of Johnson, Tage and Miller and see where this goes then. Those guys will be starting their prime years while ROR will start the inevitable decline. Then we'll see if this trade evens out some or is truly the terrible trade it looks like now. Tage still has time to turn it on and Johnson looked like a potentially skilled D man at the development camp.

1971 #9 Pierre Plante Yikes, just checked the wife's.... #5 Ric Martin

What I find the most interesting in this pick is both he and Samuelsson last year (both 2nd pick of draft for Sabres) fathers played in the NHL. I guess GMJB is hoping there's good genes in those boys.

What do you guys think of adding Connolly and/or Dzingel, neither should break the bank but would be upgrades. Wouldn't cost anything but money as opposed to giving up something for Zucker. Dzingel could play Center also if only for 1 year until Casey is more ready to take over and Cozens is ready for a 3C role.

Ryan Johnson https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/290138/ryan-johnson Very skilled skater with good hockey sense and compete-level. Not a physical player, Johnson relies on his way of reading the game. Not too flashy either, when he is not skating with the puck, but a solid defender and a good team player Johnson is a great skater, who can generate speed with ease and is nimble on his edges. He’s an elusive puck-carrier, EPrinkside.com 2019 He plays with an active stick in the defensive zone and defends the blue line well by standing up opponents, Future Considerations 2019 His mobility also extended to lateral and backwards motion, as he is very hard to beat with pure speed, McKeen's Hockey2019 He holds the offensive blueline nicely and has a knack for preventing chip outs and getting the puck back in deep, McKeen's Hockey2019

KABOOM, somebody may have gotten something right
-
Not that I wouldn't like Ferland but his best season he scored 5 more points than Jimmy V did last year.
-
Not that I disagree with you but it wasn't GA's idea
-
You're better than this plus the Rangers are still trying to upgrade their blue line and have enough up and coming wingers to trade for our extra https://bluelinestation.com/2019/06/16/new-york-rangers-blueshirts-return-jimmy-vesey/

I'm not a Vesey fan by any means but he would have been our #4 best scoring winger last year. My guess is it's him for Scandella and hopefully not McCabe but if it is, with his injury history of late that may end up being a fair deal also.

Can we please stay on topic, it's like an ADHD epidemic in here. TRADE RUMORS AND SPECULATION. Not a JBGM thread. Open a new one and debate his competency there.
