  1. An accountant talking about crows? Are we Counting Crows now? ?
  2. McCabe not on ice .. bad Dahlin with the top line... Giddy
  3. Isn't the old saying... Murderer's Row? Throw back to the Babe Ruth era of base ball? That's my memory of it with out the assistance of the internet.
  4. Bigger than a bread box but smaller than a microwave. In all fairness to the OP he is using the past two seasons and showing that as of the start of this season we are worse, and that is bad. So we may have one or 2 more wins than would have last year at this point, but will it continue? The eye test says yes, the stats say no.
  5. I really like to watch Tage play. Every time there's a little open ice and just 2 defenders I picture him looking at a team mate and saying *hold my beer*. It's always fun to watch.
  6. Bummer. Had to be a good one if it got deleted.
  7. And here's one T'd up and ready......
  8. According to the comments he has speed. Very good speed. I note a pattern in Botterills thoughts on hockey players. Speed and determination. We had a team like that once if my memory serves me ......
  9. To many new faces and finishing DFL 3 out of the last 5 years don't point to the merits of canceling practice and a fun day right before the season opener. I'm not going to die on this hill, it just does not sit well with me.
  10. The most notable attribute I can say I remember is ... He stays on his feet. Won't bowl anyone over or get a clean steal and set up a great pass, but he will stay on his feet and dog-idly skate to retrieve the puck. My memory. What little I have of it.
  11. I remember him in Erie. If the puck was chipped in deep he would go in and scrum around till he dropped and cause as much havoc as possible. More times then not McDavid and Debrincat where finding the puck in great scoring places on the ice from the Elie melee.
  12. I did not know this, or just never realized it. Botterill is what has been missing in Rochester for a long time, a GM in Buffalo that wants a solid farm and works towards achieving it..
  13. It may be a meaningless change of scenery trade when all said and done for in a few years, but, I like that Botterill is always looking for ways to improve without sacrificing much if anything.
  14. I'm in the same mind set with those that believe a bunch of young ones will be set down just for seasoning. Bailey/Baptiste may be in the big club just to fill roster positions. There appears to be no hurry to win now. There does seem to be some competition for spots though that we have not had for several years. We're getting better. Botterill is doing it the right way. BUT I JUST WANT TO WIN!
  15. And here I thought you would say *yes* after driving on the 33. After all, all those people waving the *you're number 1* finger must mean they love you! If you really want to know how much you're loved do it in a motorhome.
  16. It was a preseason game. There where players on the ice in situations that will not happen when the season starts. Nylander's give away at center ice down a man is one situation that I can remember. For the most part I thought they played well, other than special teams with young players manning them. The best player for either teams was Columbus's goalie. Wow, he looked good when they needed him.
  17. This would be the only time I can remember on SS that I could used the word poossay and get away with it.
  18. It's been 2 games and we've seen enough to know that there is a very good fight by several players just to make the team for the beginning of October. Young skilled players may not make the team and will be going to the AHL. Good problems, very problems. The team speed is really improved also. They may not all skate any faster than the players we had just a few years ago, put the puck sure does get up ice faster.
  19. Not buying it.
  20. This is where we disagree. Stepping aside, a different role, a supervisory role or what ever you call it is quitting while earning a paycheck. He was hired to be the GM. Finish your contract, then negotiate your 1 year supervisory contract. The pressure that's driving him to step aside and no longer be GM and spend more time with his family. If it's the job or his family the pressure is coming from I don't know, but there has to be pressure from somewhere to just quit. If there is no pressure he's just quitting to quit?
  21. And you said a one year deal. Still quite possible. Which I have never had a problem with and was hoping for.
  22. Why not just finish out the year on your contract and go to your *home team* instead of all the drama? If he can't handle the pressure in Tampa then what's it going to be like in Hockey Heaven?
  23. You see no smoke? Owner thinks he's going to reward his GM with a longer term contract only to be told *sorry I'm burned out. I don't want to be GM, I'll just supervise *. And what do you call when he just says I don't want to do this anymore but I still want paid (the supervisory role) with a year left on his contract other than *quitting on the team*? JJ made some valid points of cap hell about to present themselves, and conveniently he's bailing. And who are you referring to? Because you love me right? Being as we are co-PA woods camping southerners and all.... and it's still August.
  24. IKP was being sarcastic at JJ's expense. But, I must say, there is quite a bit of smoke coming from Tampa and where........
  25. They aren't *that* close to me. They can't be dickering over a single year of term, or a hundred thousand dollars per year of pay. I have no problems with Botterill sticking to his guns, he must see something that makes him hesitant.
