I hope we can get Larry back. It's one less center to worry about and he really isn't *easily replaceable*.

A team has a much better chance of finding those guys the more picks a team has. It's a crap shoot with 18 year old players. The other thing we haven't had is a good AHL team to bring them up on. Teams that have that also seem to find their late round picks more often.

Liger and GA have done a great job in many previous threads laying out each draft year and comparing how the Sabres have done compared to what was left available to the team. Their take to me has always been the Sabres have done *fairly well* in the early rounds compared to those picking around them. This is post DR years. The biggest killer to our team has been the double edge sword that GMTM pulled out and slashed away with in 2015. Not only didn't he pick well in late rounds he sold off a lot of early round picks in a very deep draft. That single draft year and all the activity of GMTM is what we are feeling the effects of right now. It's as if GMTM took all the suffering of the tank accumulating those picks for that deep draft and flushed them away.

If we go by playing time he could be considered 3a OR 3B. Depending on the game score, opponent, and puck drop location will determine more of his playing time than just calling his line the second line. I am fine with how HCRK has used him this year.

I've seen very little to no criticism of his physical play for two reasons I believe. 1. His age. 2. His play style, which was known before we drafted him. He never came to the Sabres as a stay at home d-man so their has never been that expectation. I'm sure as he ages and grows he will be more of a physical presence on the ice but I really don't believe it will become a major part of his game.

So far Botterill has been able to accomplish those easy directives, and given us an AHL team and coaches that show good promise. Yet we hate him almost as much as GMTM. Go figure?

He's the biggest Hommer owner fan there is. Right up there with Jerry Jones. You'll never ever convince me he doesn't care if he wins against a hated rival over a few buck. Can bad mouth him about his decisions in hiring, but his heart is in the right place.
