Trade: Calgary Michael Frolik to Buffalo for a 4th
woods-racer replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
All it takes is 1 injury to a team looking to make a playoff run to get a half decent return. Right now time is on Botterill's side. -

And that's why he is still here. If Botterill got an offer he would be gone. -

So what is Bogo worth if Scandella was worth a 4th? -

Is our depth is still deep enough without Scandella and Bogo ? That is what it comes down to. Do we just keep Bogo now for what little we get for him? I believe Scandella was worth more than Bogo is so in all honesty a bag of pucks? Why not just keep him? -

What are the chances that Bogo doesn't get traded after this? -
EDIT Bogosian Requests Trade, Now EROD wants One As Well

I agree with most of this. I think Pegula's ( and I'm not sure if it's just one or both ) emotions also got involved with the ROR trade situation. So I don't put full blame on Botterill for that. He very well may have told Pegula(s) that it was a bad trade and all he got in response was *I don't care I want him gone*. -
Did anyone watch the interview? My take is the Rochester head coach (Taylor) recommended Smith to Krueger. It's why he is here today. If this works kudos to our farm team for producing.
-
Some want to believe one JAG doesn't make a lot of difference. Mike Grier disagrees with that sentiment.
-
I would consider Smith the second. I think Curtis was the first.
-
We got man handled by Ottawa. They don't have a second line any better than ours and a first line that shouldn't be any better than ours. What they do have is a tough team to play against team. Not highly skilled, but very tough. We can't deal with any push back on this team.
-
Anyone that has watched that clip and doesn't come away rooting for that young man has no pulse.
-
They are a decent third line that produces. The caveat is Kyle's cost. If we put together a 4th line that produces as much and has as big of an impact as the Larsson line this team would be much better off.
-
I'm not at all worried about Smith on the 4th line, it's the 2nd line with Sheary. ERod, Sheary, Vesey, Smith, Lazar are all interchangeable 4th liners that Kruger should be able to form some combination of the 5 to get 6-8 minutes of good ice time out of them. Smith coming up and replacing little fall down boys with big fighter boys as the end of the world for this team is laughable. It's not like a production drop off of goals or assist will happen by Smith taking one of their spots.
-
I think sweetlou had it. I think the team as whole thought they were taken advantage of. The league did not respond. Two can play that game.
-
If and it's a big IF, he gets called up, I am assuming that he replaces one of Sheary/ERod. The *letting the kids grow* part of Rochester for the first time in 10 years(?) is actually happening. They are not bringing up any future stars till they are good and ready. But, I can picture someone like Smith coming here to *balance the lines* as Krueger likes to put it.
-
May you be their lucky charm.
-
The loss of Kyle and Larry on a thin O corps was significant. We have the depth to handle Scandella's absence. I like those lines.
-
Awful is to harsh. JAG at the Rochester level is a good summation.

Vesey. Sam = Vesey to me. They are interchangeable. Either one playing with Jack and getting the same PP time will have the same stats. The team can't bench him. That's the saddest point of all. They are so short on offense our slow cerebral set up guy can only get high marks in the 3rd for playing physical. That is the best we got out of him, yippy. If we had a decent team, benching him in the third might have given us a better chance to win. -

Or, How about when Jack got his faced washed why not on the next shift our big tuff veteran defenseman brings some nasty to the ice. Doing what you can when your needed doesn't always mean scoring a goal. He's just going through the motions and trying not to get injured in the hopes of another contract coming his way. -
He's already taking a $900,000.00 pay cut. Give him a couple months.

Sam is being dragged along by Jack. Sam is not elevating Jack's game. If Sam was *that good* he would have his own line. We need balanced scoring. The third Coach now sees that Sam can't drive his own line on a team that is thin on talent. -

How many Sam backhand passes to the other team that wind up a scoring chances till Sam sits? -
He really does look like 3X year old Matt Moulson. Just not as strong on his stick or able to find the right place to be to get a scoring chance.
