I would rather give Savoie a crack at learning the NHL game than watching VO have 4 giveaways and lose every puck battle and generate sweet f all. Good God he needs to go. Sabres need to play hard and at least get a loser point. They should get the next PP and they need to capitalize on it. No complaints here about UPL’s game so far.

Savoie is a scratch, DG said he needs some more practices with the Sabres. Stretches out his audition too.

Just saying that Pronger made room for himself more by vicious stick work than dropping the gloves. Maybe Cozens can add grit in a variety of ways instead of winning fights.

Interesting take. Kulich and Savoie can play C or wing so that may come into play. Two of those pairs were developed in Rochester while the others have a few years of junior together. Cozens has been good with Quinn & JJP but could work with WHL alumni Savoie & Benson. Mitts could work with either of those pairs. Kulich and Rosen could use a guy like Greenway or Tuch. I can’t wait for Quinn to get back and hopefully he can build on last year. I thought he could get 25-30 goals in a full season.

Average goaltending while scoring at an elite level, I think is where you were going.

This is a Canes team that hasn’t found its usual game. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Sabres need to bring their A game and get a couple of quick ones on the Canes’ goaltending. Dahlin with a statement game, 1G 2A. Oh, and I want to see someone jab that cocky smirk off of Kotkaniemi’s face. Maybe EJ can go Uncle Buck on him and throw him a quarter to find a rat to knaw the mole off of his face.

His stats will look differently after letting in 6 in a loss tonight.

Load management so that he is ready for the playoff run is how I would word it.

I was against pursuing Kane but have moved to the maybe he provides middle six & PP scoring depth position. EJ coming in as a Cup winner seems to have provided excellent leadership value which Kane could also help with. I am now questioning whether his medical procedure will ever allow him to get his skills back to where they were about two seasons ago. Backstrom had the same procedure and just has not been able to get back to an acceptable level. The financial commitment wouldn’t handcuff the team but it would still be a risk if he were to come in and not perform.

I enjoyed it too. It is geared to a younger audience than myself but I can relate to the hockey scenes and camaraderie I was a background actor for season 2, spent 3 days in two different Sudbury rinks as part of the crowd. I saw myself in two different shots. I am retired so I have all kinds of time to hang around a rink for 12-14 hours. I have been asked to be available next week as season 3 shooting is starting.

Canes haven’t been their typical selves this season, 7-5 with a 0 goal differential. I think the Sabres have a good chance vs them.

They are all winnable, it just depends which Sabres team shows up, the one that crushed Colorado or the one that caved to Philadelphia. Stanley Cup powerhouse Vegas lost to prospect filled Anaheim last night. It’s not a league of perfect parity but on any given night you can win.

No immediate help whatsoever but Ethan Miedema plays for the same junior team Crouse was with. He has similar size and stats to Crouse. If he pans out he could be a replacement for Greenway.

It seems like a wide group of players auditioning for roles. Benson, Biro, Rousek and now Savoie. KA wants to see them in NHL action before pulling the trigger on a VO move? VO is not in their plans for this year anymore if he sits while the revolving door of forwards get a look. Biro and Rousek are more likely to be vying for KO/Girgs/Jost/Krebs roles next year while the others try to get a top 9 spot. Getting NHL cheques is a bonus for all of these guys, Savoie and Benson can live like kings off of a few paydays when they go back to the WHL. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kulich and Rosen get a look in the New Year.

Upon further review, in a world of military power, Cozens is North Korea? He can go ballistic and cause damage but he won’t win any wars. Not that Reaves has helped the Leafs much. 3 year contract!

Different kind of note but music to my ears. He is close to where he belongs this year. I would prefer Stillman as the 7D but Bryson has more “buddies” on the team. Many people suspected that RyJo was the 7D but would bounce back and forth to maximize his ice time. I want his audition to go well.

Can’t speak to his work in Rochester but in the NCAA and USA hockey he was more of a shutdown type guy. I think the Sabres brass told him that the defensive role, transition style was his path to the NHL. It is a big jump for him to go to the top pair. They have seen Joki, Clifton and Bryson in that spot before so this could be a look that could work.

I find Markstrom hasn’t been very good for his salary. He has been a starter for quite a few years but hasn’t really won much. I remember Marty Biron talking about him and not liking his style of goaltending. There is not much talent currently available, probably have to stick out the season with what they have.
