The Elephant In the Sabres' Room: Fixing the Power Play
French Collection replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
A guy I am thinking of currently works with many NHLers as an independent skills coach. He has tons of PP experience as a player and a coach. Adam Oates. -
Great night by Robinson, Krebs and Okposo. Okposo’s lack of speed makes him the perfect trailer. I have to give him credit for going to the net lately. Robinson has been a good addition, Krebs seems energized. RyJo needs to stay in the lineup. He and Power looked good together. Clifton still has some boneheaded plays but he has contributed. Cozens is just jinxed, once he breaks the seal, watch out. Dinged up Dahlin is better than 98% of the Dmen in the NHL. Levi is making the 3 headed monster obsolete. I wouldn’t give Comrie a start until they are mathematically out of it. JJP’s speed was on display for his goal, he split the D like they were pylons. Benson just does so many things right for an 18 year old, I hope he gets a few more points once Cozens starts scoring.

Plus he gets PP and PK time tacked on. He should be a 4th liner and load managed at that.
-
With the cap going up there may be extensions so a lot of pending UFAs may get locked up. I’m losing hope for this year, KA better add some quality talent once KO, VO, Jost, Girgs are gone.
-
Bruins were up 3-0 on the Yotes, now only 4-3 in the 3rd. 16 minutes left in the third and AZ on a PP. Go Yotes!

French is my first language but I’ll still put up with those clowns. Since it is on Sportsnet up here, I may get an English non MSG feed. -
Didn’t sound like it from DG’s interview.
-
They don’t want to disrespect him but are probably thinking about maintenance days coming for KO. The first sign of soreness would be a perfect time to rest him. He can still hand out participation trophies after the game.
-
JJP’s confidence from the World Championships and some added strength has taken him up a notch. I forget which game a few weeks ago but he was clocked as the fastest skater for either team. Quinn was willing to engage last year but knocked off the puck a lot. His injury kept him from doing a lot of exercise but he was probably able to get stronger. He plays a smart game and I am impressed with his ability to create space and set up teammates, he was primarily a shooter in junior.
-
It seems like Robinson can fill that role, so no rush. If only KA could find a way to have KO be ‘load managed’. Krebs could help a bit more offensively if he had a little more skill on his wings.
-
Hadn’t thought of that angle but probably true. Luongo fought to get Levi drafted and was sad to see him go.

Watch it in French, there won’t be any homer bias on that channel. -

Dear Sabres, enough of the Jekyll and Hyde show. Come out strong and play your game, get the fans behind you and beat these guys like you should. Levi revenge game, sort of. -
He was worth taking a shot at in the 7th round. Probably could have signed him to partner with Tokarski as another option.
-
Quinn was on PP2 all season with some stints on PP1. He was also used on the PK.
-
I thought he had a shot at being part of a good tandem when KA signed him. I only want to see him play if there are injuries or if one of UPL/Levi fall apart. Levi can bounce back and forth if he needs more practice or games. Best use of Bryson’s name I’ve seen in a while.
-
Really? I am saying he is a good young player with potential to be really good. You like JJP more, I’m just saying I think Quinn has been better to date and think that pattern will continue. I also said he and Benson are high IQ players, not comparing them as to whether one is better. Quinn’s play may never get to his potential from this injury but I think he’ll be fine. I would be pleased if JJP and or Benson pass him as it would mean a high tide lifting all ships.
