I'm Canadian but have never had any desire to cheer for a Canadian team in the playoffs just for the sake of the flag. I realize that every team is made up of multiple nationalities regardless of home base. The Stanley Cup makes its tour through Canada and other parts of the world in the summer no matter who wins. Besides, I have a hate on for the Leafs, Senators and Canadiens as long time rivals. I've never liked the Canucks. Flames were OK with MacInnis and I admired the 80's Oilers. I was a fan of Hawerchuk before his Sabres days. I did pull for the Nordiques a few times, but mainly against the Habs. Bottom line, I cheer for certain players when Buffalo is out.

Sabres pass Jets in overall standings. Jets do have 2 games in hand but our team has been on an upswing. I'd much rather the Jets get Matthews than the Oilers.

Promise him a few games at the end of the year and some cold hard cash. He hopefully appreciates the fact that GMTM traded for him and wants him on this team.

For the money that he will demand, I'm out. Things may change depending on GMTMs moves, but I don't see the fit at that salary. He's not twice as good as O'Reilly but he will come close to that wage if Toronto gets in a bidding war.

I hope McDavid helps them win some games to decrease their lottery odds. Can you imagine the anger among GMs if the Oilers won again.

If we ended up with all of those Edmonton picks we would not have been lucky enough to win multiple lotteries.

Scoring goals sure helps the volume. The games I've attended the last few years (Buffalo, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal) have seemed quieter than in the 80's and 90's. The newer rinks don't have the same feel as the old claustrophobic barns. Another factor is the economics of the game. There are fewer blue collar fans at the games, they've been priced out of attending games. It's a once or twice a year occasion for most families.

I didn't expect this kind of jump on the second night of a back to back.
