Lucky to be tied. Come out like they ended the first and tilt the ice. Stars had shutouts in 3 of their last 4 games so they are on a roll. They will be off balance coming from behind. That’s all I’ve got.

That is why I think KA should weaponize their cap space at this year’s deadline. The cap should go up slightly next year and then really take off. The Sabres need the cap space going forward and other teams will gain room as it goes up. A 4-5 Dman must be available for Bryson and taking an expiring contract off of someone’s hands.

Dallas is a good club but the Sabres got a whiff of Penguin blood and will come out flying. This road trip will galvanize a group getting better all the time. Dahlin, still miffed that some people thought Heiskanen was a better Dman gets 2 more points in the victory. This won’t be easy but I predict a 4-3 win, winner from Quinn. Let’s go Buffalo!

I’ll add that the Sabres bad puck luck of hitting multiple posts per game is due to change, for the good.

In my mind Cozens will get around $8x8. If it comes in $.5M above or below that I will be happy. I don’t want to see a bridge deal., this guy should be locked up as a core member for the next 8 years.

Listening to KA, I suspect he rolls out the same lineup as this year. There will be a few tweaks but I don’t think he makes a big splash in the UFA or the trade market. I would like to see Bryson moved out and a more defensive/gritty option brought in. Clague could stay as #7. They won’t be carrying 3G so the 23 man roster will probably have 14F and 7D. Bishop, Anderson and Hodgson cap hits come off the books. I suspect Asplund, KO and Girgs get re-signed, KO taking a pay cut. Jost gets extended, he won’t break the bank, he is a useful bottom 6 player. I think Savoie gets his 9 game tryout, his performance will determine his status. If he goes back to junior then Rousek, Kulich and Rosen get called up by positional need and according to AHL performance.

What is Cozens’ ceiling? He may become more valuable than Tage in a few years. He won’t score as many goals but he may become the Sabres 2 way physical force, key faceoff guy and inspirational leader while providing more than a point per game. This could be a great 1A 1B scenario.
