Portillo and Levi could be quite the 1A and 1B for the Sabres. UPL may be in the mix too.

Quinn Hughes may score more points but I take Dahlin all day. Especially now that he has added some push back and physical play to his game. Hughes is as physical as a pylon and blocks shots like a flamingo. Housley 2.0. Tkachuk has some intangibles to his game but Dahlin may almost match him points wise and Rasmus will play 25 minutes a night in a more important position than LW. Svechnikov can score but again, a Dman is more important to tilt the ice and will play way more important minutes. Everyone has their opinion but I still take Dahlin. If Tkachuk and Svechnikov were centres I may consider them some more.

TSN talked about the Norris trophy predictions the other night. One analyst said it was Makar’s for the next ten years. I think he will win many of them but I’m sure Dahlin will be on a ballot soon.

The Kings one looks good to me and the Sharks one made me remember how weak that Seals organization was.

Thanks to @Brawndo for starting the GDT on a game day. Calgary will be a tough opponent for sure, there will be no shame in losing if the Sabres play hard. However, there is a chance, not a Dumb and Dumber chance, that the Sabres produce their ‘A’ game and pull this out. The Sabres are still a major underdog until they win a few more games like this. They can use that to their advantage and surprise teams with their team speed and balanced scoring (which needs to happen soon). I expect good goaltending and hope that is enough. The Sabres pairing can’t be Hasek like every game, the offense has to show up. Team defense helps too. Buffalo 5 Calgary 3. Dahlin ties Northcutt with a goal. Let’s go Buffalo!

Young teams need to learn how to win. That was not a pretty third period but they pulled it out. DG can build on this and explain how they need to breakout and possess the puck to kill the clock. The goaltending has been really good and this breeds confidence all through the lineup. Dahlin was as intense as I’ve seen him when McDavid was coming in on him, total focus. His puck handling was great again and his wrist shot is how he scored a lot of his goals in the SHL.
