  1. Suchanek with some nice saves. Savoie and Weissbach on the PK had a nice rush.
  2. I’m pleased with the prospect team so far. There are some really skilled forwards. Östlund and Nadeau would have bolstered this lineup. I think they need to sign another goalie, Suchanek would be my choice. Even if Levi and Portillo sign, there is room for another prospect. I would like to see Novikov over here soon. He sounds like a solid Dman in the KHL, too bad he is LHD. A few more D in the pipeline would be nice. Kozak is good and getting good reviews from the coaches and media. He could become the Sabres 4C.
  3. Kulich was back helping the D on his last shift, seems aware of responsibility. He was on PK as well.
  4. I like the way the D have been playing. Komarov is solid. Good for Sova, he was probably close to being drafted. Sabres should keep close tabs on him in Erie.
  5. I get what you are saying, Hughes is way better than Weber. I get it. However, Hughes is a great skater and is a pure offensive Dman. That is why he is a first pairing Dman. I definitely want him or a pair of him QBing my PP. He is not very good defensively, physically weak and I wouldn’t want him or two of him killing a penalty. I obviously don’t want 6 Webers but I want a variety of skill sets, role guys who are better at certain things who can play that role well. I also think 2022 Weber would be a way better skater than than Weber 1.0. He may only get 9-12 minutes for my team where Hughes will get 25.
  6. Excellent point. If he doesn’t want to challenge Levi for the net in Rochester and then Buffalo, I have doubts about his competitiveness. Even if he doesn’t win that battle, he may open some eyes and make himself wanted as a #1 in another organization. Prove to the team that drafted you that you are working hard to make that team and help them move forward.
  7. I think he gets 30 points. I like that he got some Selke talk last year, I hope he builds on that as he won’t be a 20G 25A forward on this team. He could be like Lehkonen was for the Avs in the playoffs, solid two way play, speedy forechecker and timely secondary scoring. I wish he would be able to play C at this level and cement a role as the 4C and 1PK unit.
  8. 2022’s version of Weber would have to have more skill but there is still a place for those guys. I don’t want 6 of Quinn Hughes on D. I need someone to battle in front, throw hits, block shots and stand up for teammates. Like he said in the press conference, you need to find a role and do it well.
  9. Pre dryland training and gyms. Guys that were in this kind of shape would have an advantage. They all worked in the off season, the money was not great. My father in law went to the Red Wings camp in the 50’s. He was offered a spot in Omaha but returned home to work in the pulp mill, the money was better than the minors.
  10. He has an upbeat personality that works well with developing young talent. If he speaks to the kids like he does to the media the messages will be clear and easy to understand. Seth and DG probably share tons of ideas on development. They have lots of experience in common from their USNDTP days.
  11. We were at school but anyone that wanted to watch went to the gym.
  12. I hope so, he does not look like the rah-rah type, but he is internally driven to win and will lead by example.
  13. It has been said by others, the national level media think a big splash in UFA or trades is the primary method of improvement. The Sabres have chosen to grow from within and that doesn’t generate attention. Just win and these same guys will be singing the praises of draft and develop.
  14. Definitely part of the leadership group. Id like to be a fly on the wall and listen to the dressing room conversations.
  15. I don’t gamble much but I take the over. The only thing I can see preventing that is the goaltending falling apart.
