With Fabbro getting an extension from Nashville right after this deal, I am thinking KA was in deeper talks with Nashville than Asplund for a 7th.

I think the Jost pickup sealed his future in Buffalo. Jost is better and is an NHL C. Asplund just couldn’t score enough to claim a spot on the wing. He didn’t block Quinn, JJP and was a good soldier. I liked him and it’s too bad we lose his versatility but Greenway is something they need and a different skill set. Good luck in Nashville.

I like KO and his leadership is great but he is the first forward I would replace. His feet are slower, his hands have never been great and he is not getting open to use his shot. His best move now is pinning the puck along the boards to kill time on the odd PK.

Jost would have provided insight on that exact point. Greenway is too young to be washed up. He just fell out of favour with the coach or couldn’t find a role in the changes. Guerin wanted much needed cap space. Greenway is from Canton NY, does that provide a bit of a Tuch vibe?

A trade can also be a wake up call. This guy was not cutting it and he’s gone. We expect more so step up or get out of the way.

Whatever happens here with the goalie situation, (still hoping for Saros), the 3 goalie thing should not carry into next year. It takes a spot on the roster for a D or F and I find it takes away from a rhythm of having a 1A/1B or 1 and 2.

This is what I’ve been telling non Sabres fans. Tuch being out can be sustained for a while, Dahlin being out cannot. Dahlin coming back soon, there is a chance. The drop off from Tuch to Quinn to VO to KO to Vinny affects performance but not as much as Dahlin’s 28 minutes of Norris calibre hockey. Power is trying but he is a 20 year old rookie. Mule cannot generate any offense, Joker is overmatched with top pairing minutes and the rest get caved in.
