Kurt Gosselin signed with the Amerks and has been playing in Cincinnati. I guess the 5 goals and 2 assists in the 7 games he’s played earned him a bus ticket to Rochester. He’s 24 yo but he looked pretty good against LV...fast and finishes checks...

This is another project that I’ve been dying to tackle...I’ve had several ideas what I would do with this cantilevered arm that holds a hammock swing in the summer. I had a solid vision pop into my head Monday so I got right to work...all salvaged materials. My wife thinks I’m nuts for dragging this material home but for the first time ever she was “blown away”. This project was a win/win for me. I enjoyed the hell out of it and my wife is looking at me through new eyes.?

The Amerks lose to LV 4-3 in OT tonight. They outshot them 43-31 but poor Wedgewood had another terrible performance. Halfway through the second he’d let in 3 goals on 17 shots. The last two were unassisted glove side high. Pathetic. Yanked again. Wilcox comes in off the bench like a tiger. When he starts he’s more like tigger. I hope for a deeper run this year but goaltending has been weak.

I think these call ups are foolish. The Amerks and Cyclones need to hit the playoffs with a full head of steam*. There’s no benefit to the Sabres current season. “Get a look at them” some people say. How accurate is the assessment when they’re playing with a group that’s already thrown in the towel? Isn’t the organization in better shape having these guys finishing a hard fought regular season with their team? We had the same scene last year. Call ups slowed the charge into the playoffs and they flamed out in the first round. I guess if you’re more desperate for ticket sales than long term success.... *a full head of steam is an old Operating Engineers term...ready to operate when the gauge hit 420...yup.

Certainly hasn’t been the same player since he got the first call up...I have ideas why that happened.

Finished product....I had planned on using an existing fitting as the fill/drain but decided to move it so the tank fills completely. When filled with water it’s about 1,000 lbs. Maybe that’s too much for such a small footprint? We’ll see on Sunday... You’re actually pretty darn close...I think we could work out a deal...most likely involving beer...

What is the county’s cut? It’s not only the state with their hands in your pockets. As for the landlording? Got out of it as soon as I could. They stop paying you(sometimes after years of paying faithfully)and it’s a real bitch to get rid of them.

Finally got around to building my lawn roller. My lawns are so lumpy that you can’t cut the grass without rupturing a spleen. All materials were salvaged so the only cost was time and electricity for the welder...I had removed the fittings on the LP tank and purged the gas with water last fall. The smell of the ethyl mercaptan lingered for months.... I cut a template to fit in the leveling ring on the bottom of the tank to find and mark exact center. I used the leveling ring to ensure the axle pin was perfectly square to the direction of travel. Cut the ring off and centered it on the other side and repeated the process. Cut off all the fittings and plug welded them closed, leaving one for filling and draining. Built a boxed frame with sleeve collars that fit snugly on the axle so there was no need for bearings. I’m going to add removable cheek weights tomorrow...I have about 400 lbs worth which will give me up to 1000 lbs...that should squish anything flat.... I want the cheek weights removable so I can also use them on the trebuchet that I have plans for this fall... so much fun!

The right hand windshield mount on my ‘93 1100 XV classic broke toward the end of riding season last year. I’ve scouring the internet looking for one since. I couldn’t find one anywhere. I even looked in salvage yards hoping to stumble on one. For chits n giggles I stopped in the local Yamaha store. The dude at the counter is telling me there’s no way they still make the part. Discontinued years ago. Suddenly he gets a look on his face and says “dude I think I saw one of those in the back in an old dusty box a few years ago...” He returns with a dusty old box and a set of windshield mounting brackets!!!! Both of them! Sells them to me for half price because...I’m probably the only one who was ever going to come in for them...Counter dude has the memory of an elephant....

And yet we get posters that will focus on the one or two bad plays he makes per game. They don’t remember sitting in their parents basement smoking cheap weed and playing long forgotten PlayStation(Atari in my day) at that exact age...didn’t he surpass Orr’s rookie season tonight? IMO there are too many lost dreams clouding too much judgement. It’s not as far off as the doomsday prophets will lead you to believe....

I read a thing on cobble while looking up @Weave‘s colcannon....it looked damn good so I picked up some bangers at Wegman’s. Cobble seemed like a good thing to finish off the soda bread with.
