Matt Vernon has played well in Jacksonville since last season. He could be a backup for Houser.

He’s basically played center his whole career, including as leading scorer in Rochester. They never gave him a chance.

By not sitting him for a game it sends the message that the captain and alternates won’t be held to the same standard. And if he’s really a leader Samuelsson would have accepted it. Don’t make a rule and then not follow through.
