  1. McDavid is the best player in the building. Man is he good.
  2. For the past three seasons I watched about 65% of all Sabres games at a little place within walking distance for me. I would walk in and find a seat and the manager would go and find the game on direct TV. They served Bell's Two Hearted on tap and Wed and Thursday were 3 dollar pints. Wings were not bad but their chili was all world. The day we secured DFL and either Jack or Connor was my birthday and I was celebrating. Some Hawks fans were giving me grief because they got there late and wanted my TV tuned to their game. The Bartender threw them out. I drove by on my way to work this morning and there was a white letter in the door window. "After 14 wonderful years we are closing for good. Thank you for your support. And Go Sabres". I am bummed. It was a gem.
  3. His effort isn't the issue. He does make the selfish play all too often. The useless shot, the failure to pass etc etc. Holding him accountable is as simple as an occasional "what are you seeing on that play?". For that be needs to be held accountable for the sake of his career and the team.
  4. ND will be out by the end of March and he can sign anytime thereafter until the conclusion of the SCF. He's our property and can sign anytime. Vesey wasn't signing with the Preds. He could have signed after July1 but was heading to fa.
  5. Aren't Larrson and Foligno on one year deals? I think Larrson would be a ufa after this year.
  6. I consider his temperment a -. I prefer a goalie be ultra calm and laser focused. JMHO. I also think our Cup contending tandem has Petersen in the starribg role. I think he will be that good.
  7. I am simply hoping for no Tavares like injuries. What I really don't like about the Team NA thing is putting McDavid s coach in charge. Team NA is a ruse for allowing Canadian media to annoint McDavid again and promote Matthews as his heir over Jack. I think Larkin Saad Jack would have made Team USA better while McDavid would have been the onlyplayer to make Team Canada. Maybe Ekblad. I am watching with trepidation concerning injuries. The rest, Is just a cat toy until the season starts.
  8. I actually see him as Larrson like. I could be wrong and he oozes offense in the nhl, but I think he will be a responsible all round player that can slot up when needed.
  9. IF Bailey develops touch he should be a top nine player. Carrier might be a 4th liner for his career. I think Bailey can season some more and contribute with better players if he gets the call. IMHO.
  10. Unless of course he is the actual antichrist then you would be spot on. Though my eye test is more the latter. I think he wanders too much in the d zone and is out of position a lot. But when the play moves out of the d zone he is always active. I would like to see him be more disciplined in the d zone and not look for the home run hit all the time. Better more active stick, and losing a few lbs so he doesn't where down in the third might help.
  11. I got it. Seems to indicate Bogosian isn't as bad as True paints him. Also click on the Blues logo for d. That is pretty scary.
  12. What does it say? The graphs that is it won't load on my iPad
  13. That the NHL promotes its stars poorly?
  14. Team NA s second line will most likely have Matthews in the pivot. The games are in TO and I think MacClellan does The Leafs bidding.
  15. Nino Schurter rode a brilliant race in Men's MTB. I rode my first competitive race 3 weeks ago and still have the aches and road rash from a crash. On a lighter note I was amused to find out out the USA had a female sprinter named English Gardner and a men's platform diver named Steele Johnson. You can't make this stuff up.
  16. Fla did well on Yandle and Demers, Az paid relative market value for Goligoski, Detroit didn't overpay for Nielsen. Boston did for Backes, and in my opinion due to the fact that it will be his last and it is about the money and not winning. Ladd is curious but probably not outside the market. I think we overpaid for ROR largely because he had no idea who Jack and Sam were, we probably paid less for Okposo because he did but I remember Mtl being our only real competition. If I need to remind anyone of the Ville Leino deal and the fact the we paid what no one else was even thinking then I don't know what to tell anyone. I am not not knocking ROR or Okposo. I like both players. I don't think either came here or stayed because of our potential but rather because it was the best deal either was offered. Not a choice between offers. Obviously though I am wrong. To you which makes it subjective. The Islanders saw it differently.
  17. It really isn't. At the time of the trade TM said he would be signed, essentially giving ROR the upper hand. I think he would be 6.5 to 7 over 7 on the open market. But I also don't think his contract would have the structure it currently has, I.e bonus based and essentially untraceable.
  18. You're leaving out amounts. They wouldn't pay what we did. Did they offer market value? We don't know. We paid what ROR wanted that is not he same as market value.
  19. That cuts both ways. Maybe Ladd is better than you wish to believe and Okposo is not. The fact remains the Isles felt Okposo was replaceable for a lot less than he was asking. And before you retort to it is the Isles, remember they were in the playoffs and we weren't. Is that dispositive? Not by any means but I don't think simply dismissing the fact that the team with the most knowledge of Okposo's value chose to sit it out. I also think people are missing my point. Until we have a track record of winning, we are not as desirable a destination as people may think based on our potential. As a result we must pay a premium for FA s to come here.
  20. You didn't even bother to address why his team didn't even negotiate. Nice little self righteous indignation you've built for yourself.
  21. And they didn't counter but rather let him go to ufa.
  22. It is not the player but value. I think he will be offered around 2.5 to 3. 2.5 for 2 years would be a good signing. If we have to pay more or he signs elsewhere for that amount is definitely probative.
  23. I 'll raise you. If the Sabres can sign Hudler to a 2.5 aav for less than 2 years I'll say Buffalo is a desirable FA destination. I think that is what he is worth and the length of contract I am willing to give.
  24. You are not bursting anything. This is analogous to a tallest midget debate. Okposo is a nice player, but a playoff team didn't seem to think he was worth the price he was asking. Because he was a free agent and he signed here is not evidence of the desirability of Buffalo, but rather that based on the offers this was the most lucrative. Okposo reportedly was courted by the Canadiens but did not want to raise his young children in a bilingual environment. Okposo is a nice player but I doubt other desirable destinations were offering the same money. Staying put would have been optimum and they didn't even tender an offer.
