Evander Kane arrested on misdemeanor charge for June nightclub incident
3putt replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I met Sully a few times before I left BLo. I was tending bar pt at WCB Heroes on main st and he would come in. He was a new hire and an arrogant pos. He once retorted during a sports argument, Seaver v Ryan, to be exact that "and that is why people like you were meant to be born and remain in this shithole of a.city." I have yet to see anything that convinces me he has changed his opinion on that front. -
The greatest aaaba shortstop I ever saw was derailed by a high ankle sprain. Went to the U but was never the same and he never played short again.
-
I am not saying he is injury prone but that fact is he has missed considerable time for various reasons over the past 2 seasons. Bad run of luck? I hope so, but I hope it ends. And once you have a serious concussion you are more susceptible to increased symptomology in the event you suffer another. It takes longer to recover. It is the same concern I have with Ennis, who by the nature of his play and size could take a big hit at anytime.
-
IMHO, he has the ability to be at a minimum serviceable. The question for me is can he play 60 to 65 games?
-
What does that even mean?

/\ This is troof. I concur that TB had the best os if for no they avoided the worst possible outcome with each of their playera.

If we define "not over his head" as contribute offensively and maybe 2nd pp, then I don't think that is a stretch. If we are expecting a 200 ft game that may be a reach. Th hen again he may never be a 200 ft player.

I actually would prefer he didn't as well. Go to AHL or SHL paly wjc, come back and be ready for a call up. But I am not the GM...right?
-
Murray will lend him to Sweden for WJC if he is not in a full time role with the big club. Sweden knows what he can do and won't decline the offer in December. Sounds like Alex is focusing on making the NHL this year. Good luck kid, we are pulling for you.

It is more of a "this is our GT situation if Lehner can't stay healthy" comment. I agree that our dman search is probably done unless an Isles situation pops where we can poach camp cuts.

As smart as he is portrayed, he would lose it all if he didn't sign with Chicago or Pittsburgh. Boston a close third. The first 2, chance at immortality when his name is.engraved on the cup. The latter, Boston' s Jack Kemp. Or Crazy Eddie. His overall best interests financially lie outside of Buffalo. If he wants to be iconic, welcome aboard. Last post on this topic. Out. Ps. Until 8/15.

Poile also, said that they didn't make a deadline move because Vesey said he was coming. The deadline was February 29. Vesey couldn't have an agent on that day as Harvard was still playing. I wasn't privy to the conversation but it sounds like Poile assumed, and everyone knows what happens when you assume.
-
Both. Local knowledge is golden. If the shop is pointing you in the right direction a nominal purchase is a great way to say thanks.
-
While he was still playing at Harvard, he couldn't have an agent or he would lose eligibility. So the remarks that Poile talked to his agent at the deadline is not plausible because Harvard was still playing.

He can come to camp

It is more of a correlation exercise. I had the good fortune to play at a high level and with extremely skilled players. Some of the most skilled were not very productive, while less skilled players always seemed to produce. I think the eye test helps in 2 areas: NHL hands and IQ. The most productive players can handle the puck, receive passes make passes and shoot at speed. This is my definition of hands. IQ is more about situational awareness. Most pros can execute the obvious but those that excel like Sam seem to be in the right place when it isn't so obvious. So looking at numbers helps clarify what your looking at. World class measurables but low production you would probably see low shooting %, low shot totals, high turnovers, low assist numbers and the like. As I become knowledgeable of the fancy stats, I look at them as well. I just think that their value is in measuring over time under controlled or similar conditions. I think the identification stage is much more difficult and traditional scouting has its place.

Ulmark played there under his ELC. Didn't Karabacek play in Czech? No on Karabacek. Outside North America: "11.19 Loan to Clubs Outside North America. The SPC of any Player may contain a clause that provides that, in the event his NHL Club Loans the Player to a club outside the NHL, during the period of such Loan, the Player shall have the option to be Loaned to a club of his choice outside North America. The clause may relieve the NHL Club of the obligation to pay the Player his Paragraph 1 Salary for the duration of such Loan if such relief is expressly stated in the provision, but the NHL Club shall otherwise be responsible for all other payments due to the Player by the NHL Club pursuant to his SPC. Such clause shall be subject to any applicable Player Transfer Agreement between the NHL and a hockey federation and/or the IIHF in effect, at the time of the Loan. The Player shall be permitted to make financial arrangements for compensation and other benefits with the club outside North America for the duration of the Loan, which financial compensation and benefits shall not be included in Averaged Club Salary, Actual Club Salary, League-wide Player Compensation or the Players' Share. The Club shall be required to provide to the NHL and the NHLPA in accordance with Exhibit 3 any loan agreement entered into in relation to such Loan by no later than 5:00 p.m. New York time on the day following the day the Club has received the executed loan agreement." Note the language refers to specific transfer agreements, etc.

I thought it was ok the Russian judge gave him a 5 though.

I find it ironic that NJ was never a destination for FAs in large part due to the Lou effect. Yet TO seems to think he is a drawing card for the organization. No doubt he had success but I wonder if he is still relevant

The Birkman is not the Myers-Briggs in the least. It attempts to triangulate a persons optimum motivations and the environment and role. Bowman brought it with him from Detroit. He was trying to quantify why they were successful with the way they developed players. But it is a bit cuddly for a hard numbers guy. ;)

Different style imho. Think Filip Forsberg.
