Not meant to demean ROR or his contributions. But even WCS first reference is to leading extra practice. That is how he got where he is. Jack also works hard but it doesn't look like he is. Let's split the baby Solomon, no more Ott.

Any player will follow another who demonstrates a desire to win at all costs. It's better when their talent level is the sky. Vets will follow. Jack is the face, Samson the brain and hopefully Risto is the backbone. ROR is a great player and will have a leadership role, but I prefer we let the lunch pail mentality die a quick death. It is a new game, of young talented smart players. The captaincy should be one of those types of players.

I still think the plan for Nylander is to give him as much exposure to the NHL game in preseason, craft a development plan of things to work on, send him to the A to work with bigger faster comp than he is used, loan him to Sweden for WJC a la Risto and see if he makes enough improvement for a stretch call up. There is less urgency with Alex which is nice.

At 16 he can still grow. He won't be eligible til 2018 draft

He seems much calmer and is seeing the puck well. The one that rang the crossbar and he lost sight of brought back memories of Hasek with his glove flip behind him just in case..

In Rochester they will be stronger and faster than what he saw in college.

He needs time against faster stronger competition, but he made three beautiful outlets today. Gets the puck and turns up ice instinctively.

No stats posted on NHL.com, but it seemed Nelson logged a lot of ice time. No Okposo, ROR, Risto Kane or Kulikov. Jack's first game back and Samson seems to be picking up where he left off. This will be a fun team to watch.

Must have, but I did see some great cycling and a few crisp passes for chances. Baby steps.
