Agreed this would be TM's Rubicon moment. I have to believe somewhere during the interview process, TM laid out his vision of what it would take to win consistently in the NHL at the highest level. I did not get the impression that the lengthy interview process that included some other better known quantities was designed to find a specialist, i.e. a good teardown person, a good drafter, a trade specialist etc. Rather, I believe that TM sold himself as the guy with the plan and the ability to execute all phases from identifying, obtaining and developing talent to managing the financial structure of the on ice talent including hiring administrative staff like coaches and scouts. If TM thinks this is the guy to execute the plan laid out, the one TP bought into, then I support the decision. If it is Bylsma or Deboer, I trust that too.
I think that SSers are getting swept up in the euphoria of the war being over, and not realizing the Marshall Plan is just getting under way.
