  1. Yeah why wouldn't they, the Hawks, let the sheet come and take the picks versus pieces that they may never use? Hmmm who has capspace, all their own picks next year and would like to add 22 to 24 yo proven nhlers to their roster? A mystery indeed.
  2. He isnt signed. Someone could still sheet him.
  3. The Leaf's will have private eyes posted at every Tim Horton's from Fort Erie to North York with a picture of Phil Kessel in their pocket.
  4. I think Baptiste's ceiling is a bit higher than that. We will not have all stars in every slot, no one can afford that, so finding good combos will be important. Baptiste has speed and scoring ability to complement a strong center and LW. Hopefully he reaches that ceiling.
  5. Irwin is a solid stay at home dman. Not flashy, just solid, I wouldn't mind that move.
  6. Sounds like you are throwing down the gauntlet to Jackie Boy? G 741 A 650 1391 PTS. Have at it Jacko.
  7. The bear was funny. well to me at least.
  8. 21 seasons for a 5'10" 185 lb defenseman is pretty impressive. 4th all time in points by a defenseman.
  9. Congrats. In 21 seasons he was a -53 total. I find that staggering.
  10. Here is my stab w/o taking into potential FA moves: L C R Kane ROR Gionta Kane is a puck carrier like Jack. You want Jack to carry it as much as possible in protected minutes. Gionta can play with the vets and probably increase his output and still be a role model. Gus Jack Ennis Speed scoring touch and the requisite grit Moulson Samson Foligno They have the same relative speed and would be great finishers for a premier set up man. Deslauriers Larson/Legwand McGinn Note: I think Larson Gets traded. Lot of giddyup and thump with above average scoring potential.
  11. I also dont see a 1a goalie either. TM said he wanted to give Lehner anclear net to see if he could claim the 1 spot. Johnson has performed well in a backup role and is not threatening to Lehner.
  12. Keep an eye on St Louis. The Tarasenko deal could put them in a bind.
  13. Pre draft Van was asking for a 2. They settled for a 3+. I would have offered 51. I wouldn't have made the ROR deal. Palmier I, a rw, went for 41. Etem and Hagelin were in play but don't know if we could have put the package together. If Zadorov was going to be moved I think we could have gotten a young piece from Dallas or Detroit without a max contract. I liked Boeser a lot. We could also have moved back in the first for more 2's and and gotten Blackwood or another. I like Guhlen(?), but liked Chabot and Larson more. We are carrying McGinn and Legwands contracts when we could have used them in FA. In a draft this deep, we only got two players in the first two rounds. The point is we Jack was a given but we could have probably came away with more pieces from rounds 1 and 2. I also would have rather been in on the Hamilton deal than Oreilly. But i was not at the table and GMTM was. So perhaps this was the best we could do. We will never know and it is time to move on. FA next.
  14. He is also a 95 birthday.
  15. That's good.
  16. One, I don't want a playoff team, Imhope for a perennial champion. Two, we are still 3-4 years away from a legit contender. The maturation process follows its own course. I would have liked to seen a more judicious use of the assets. I have no problem trading picks or players, but I don't like overpaying which I think we did with both trades. Are we better? Yes. Could we have made the same improvement without paying what we did? I think so. Could we have gotten even better and deeper throughout the system? Again I think so. I am happy that we got better. I am looking forward to rooting for wins. I just think we paid sticker price when we had more leverage to deal with.
  17. money where your mouth is sort of thing. I would expect nothing less. And on a side note, I look forward to a #15 in blue and gold to root for again. I liked Meehan a lot.
  18. I get your point, and the hypothesis that if you put him in a no. 1 spot, the numbers will improve. I am simply not as convinced as you nor do I assail yor approach. I simply don't think it was the right move at the right time and as a result not as excited. With the ammunition we had there were multiple directions we could have gone, this was one of them. I would have preferred a little more long term approach. It was painful acquiring the assets, and I thought, other than Jack, who I am ecstatic about, we could have used them more judiciously. I think we overpaid for Lehner and to a lesser extent ROR. But that doesn't mean I will root for him to fail, quite the contrary. Go Sabres!
  19. Can you at least understand why there would a lack of excitement to pay a ransom to acquire a sub 60 point player and have to pay him like Toews? I can understand yours and others excitement about bold moves, but I am still wondering why this guy wasn't getting paid by his club if he is the messiah that many seem to think he is. Nice player? Sure. 8 million nice? Not sold. Therefore not as excited as you and others. Moving on, cheering for the laundry.
  20. please, please let him take it...that is one creepy dude.
  21. That Lehner better be the next Lundquist for what we paid. Lack, Talbot, Niemi all cost a hell of lot less then #21.
  22. Any reaction from ROR?
  23. he I have high hopes for, having seen him in Erie.
  24. Rodriguez is a career AHLer at best. Fasching and Bailey are decent prospects, granted. But we added a lot of left handed forwards with a propensity to play center. I am glad people are happy. I guess I am with D4rk on this.
