  1. The implied notion that a trade for a known ceiling helps a rebuild much less expedites it. Maturation of the new kids and acquisitions will take some time and that may be incongruent with trading those assets now. I do not advocate falling in love with prospects but would rather deal from a surplus. At rw, lw rd and goaltender the surplus isnt there. A trade may simply move the hole and not speed up anything. Again I used your comment as illustration of a popular belief that we can accelerate a process at a point where it may not benefit the long term goal.
  2. I agree the banter is fun, but my hope is he is committed to a longer view. I think one makes better decisions when there isn't a sense of urgency.
  3. You are focusing only on one of many things GMTM said. He also said that Bylsma is a teacher and can be patient with young talent, implying the keystone pieces will be playing here rather than in the A. He also said that you build through the draft. He also said that that he does not expect to compete for a PO spot next year. People are putting there own desire to be a miracle team next year ahead of the more likely prospect letting young players develop before you move them. Not you personally but many posters clamoring for trades.
  4. Duncan Keith. MSU to Brandon?
  5. Might as well decide it with guys in inflatable sumo suits
  6. Reruns of Draft Year ran during the awards. The Sprong feature highlighted games against Halifax. The best player in the video was Meier. I wonder what it would cost? Edit: small sample disclaimer
  7. Lets hope not

Its not just Matthews. Chykrun and Puhljarvi are top end guys too. It is about the fact that the top 3 picks are lotto slots. Make a run at the playoffs and miss and you may end up pulling an Oil and lucking into another stud.
  9. $46 for a case of Three Floyds Dark Lord I spent this entire season at a new place that had the NHL ticket. After the fourth visit, they would see me coming through the parking lot and have a beer poured and waiting in my little corner seat. They were going to remove it from the rotation but kept it because they new it would go based on my frequency. I will be having a Bell's Two Hearted Ale when they Announce Jack's name.
  10. Connor is the American Dylan Strome, but a far better skater. Hasn't had the competition but will at Michigan.
  11. And At 51(?) he has us taking Blackwood. That would be a good haul IMHO
  12. And most around the Hawks will say the key move.
  13. Nice job to both of you. I don't think provorov gets past the Flyers though. They need D that can contribute offensively.
  14. And keep this in mind, the Trib ran a front page sports section story about Stan Mikita's battle with dementia today. When I mentioned to a Blackhawk "fan" what a shame about Stan, his response was who? These people don't deserve what hey have. We do bring it GMTM.
  15. He had a shuper of bourbon in front of him...believe me he's good.

  17. Two Brothers Wobble IPA is a great summer IPA.
  18. I think many are under estimating the comments about developing youth. With 3 picks in the top 31, including Eichel, you have the opportunity by leveraging the other picks (Isles and later rounds) to really stock the system with exceptional talent. They do not need to be looking for immediate help other than from Jack. A Kyle Connor developing at Michigan for example is a great piece to have in a year or two. Hell he could break Kariya's record and decide to leave after his freshman year. The idea that we will trade all of our picks for current roster caliber players seems in opposite to GMTM's recent remarks.
  19. Even when you dont have a dog in the fight, this is why we watch. Outstanding hockey game.
  20. This entire game has been a classic. It should be showcased on national broadcast tv.
  21. There is one difference. Toews was a college frosh at North Dakota and knows the accomplishment Eichel achieved. Respect is earned not given.
  22. Like cornerbacks, you can never have too many Rasmus's
  23. That would pose a serious injury risk to all players. The technology in sticks now enables even beer leaguers to bring it. The pros even more so.
  24. Simple solution eliminate the ability to ice the puck without a whistle on the power play. Every power play would be like the last two minutes where the team is down. Those instances produce more scoring chances because even if you relieve the pressure, you can't change lines and the fo comes back to your zone. It would increase the impact of taking penalties and force a more wide open game IMHO.
