The Force is weak with this one Obi Wan :flirt:
-
It would be funny if we did sign him and Vesey and Vesey cites giving up a pick for him as the deciding factor. We get Vesey and the original asset back.

Prediction time: Will the Sabres make a big move in the next 48 hours?

I voted no, just to negate nfreemans vote. -
You are a man of simple pleasures...you are a man right?
-
No But that's not his job.

Agreed, but this place exercises no patience at all. There is an element of organic growth required. Carrier seems ready, Ennis is coming back and it remains to be seen if he can regain form along with Girgs. I am all for making a good trade or fa pickup to improve the roster, but not simply for the sake of doing so. I also think the market for a difference maker would require blowing a hole in our roster to acquire the same. We need a backup gt, we may be able to live with the rest.
-
What would it take to get Kreider from NY? He is fast, fits the TM mold, and NY is in a bad way with older players, depleted farm and high expectations. Girgs, Baptiste, Fasching and picks in some combination might get it done.
-
I would sign Okposo with an expiring nmc after 3 years. Send him to Minnesota at the tail end of his contract. The price he is asking is the market and we lose no assets. I could live with it.

Small sample but Nelson did some nice things. I particularly like they way he pivots to a forward skating position when he receives the cross ice pass. It is almost instinctual. He got burned once or twice by the speed of NHL forwards, but instead of continuing to skate backwards he was transitioning to move out of the zone. Again small sample.

Filip Forsberg. Maybe Alex is shiftier.

Murray hates Russians. :flirt:

Kessel was sort.of in that category.

Marian Hossa

I don't overestimate Vesey's impact, but the potential is there. Okposo has similar production numbers to Stamkos at present and is less expensive. A defensive upgrade will be more beneficial than anything outside of Lehmer turning out to be Lundquist 2.0. 3 parts/pieces of comparable aggregate impact for the same price.
-
I don't know True. I think Murray is toting company mail a bit. We do have cap space and if he said we aren't pursuing the biggest FA in decades "because Buffalo", he would be degrading the Hockey Heaven brand. But I think as a hockey man he could improve the team just as much with the addition of Vesey, Okposo and a Fowler, Murray Barrie type D. This exercise is as much about satisfying the fans desire to win now as it is a set up for the next FA who may not be as high profile. The message seems to be we will be significant players as long as we can and will not consider ourselves second tier in anyway.

I am saying he was 21st among defenseman in scoring. The calculus for the Norris has tilted in favor of offense. Charra was largely a defensive force and not at the offensive level of Keith or Karlsson.
-
The Bruins won with Charra being the top guy. It can be done, that is all.
-
Letang wasn't Norris level this year. Good yes, but not I the discussion with Doughty and Karlsson. Winning a cup is a team accomplishment. The roster you site is devoid of elite offensive talent and a Norris winning defenseman couldn't make a difference. I point out that the Sabres will have elite offensive talent and may be able to win with a very good but not Norris level dmen like a Letang or Charra.
-
There is also a non trivial possibility he gets hit by a moving truck. He is not Keith in any facet of his game, but neither was Lidstrom. I also think you under estimate the value of top end forwards and the effect they have on elevating dmen. Also you over value the Karlson's who actually who haven't been able to carry a team in the post season. Here are many ways to construct a winning d corps. Not all of them require a Norris winner, although that would be nice. Murray didn't draft Barrie either. Give it a rest.
-
I certainly think he can be as good as Letang.
-
Why not? He hasn't logged a minute in either the AHL or NHL. He is a rookie and that is among other things what dev camp is for.

Vegas needs to be as entertaining as possible as quickly as possible due to the competition in that town for youe entertainment dollar. It will be an abject failure, but initially they will want excitement and glitz. They will not be looking to get to the floor. As an aside once the nfl shows up the team goes in the shitter
-
My friend who works for the Hawks said that was the general consensus among their table. They also wanted Asplund and knew when the trade was announced that Buffalo jumped up to take him.
-
Malkin Datsyuk Federov and Molginy would disagree.
-
I think that's the way to go Hoss. I think Nelson has higher offensive upside than Borgen but think both are pretty close.
