But that is the point. Those teams can offer him a top six ala Panarin, while reducing payroll. He isnt a top 6 because buffalo, he is a top six talent. The days of veteran pieces are over. The Ladd deal in Chicago would turn even a curmudgeon like Coach Q to the lightside. It is a young man's game and they are better prepared to make the jump earlier. Some will need AHL seasoning, but Vesey is 23. He is either ready now or this is all just a big circle jerk. Will there be adjustment? Sure, but he is either ready or he probably never will be. So if he goes to SJ Pitt, TB he will play top 6 or middle 6 minutes and be part of the plan. I am hopeful the stars align but it makes sense for him to go the distance to ufa. Nicely played.

Babcock, Sullivan, Cooper, Trotz all offer the same thing. So yeah I think its important, I just think the decision will hinge on many factors, some not ho key related

I think what's missing in this discussion is not what the Sabres have to offer, but what other teams have to offer. If you are a capped strapped team, a max elc won't kill you. Additionally, like Buffalo you will be protected in expansion. So teams like LA, Chicago, Anaheim, Pittsburgh NY (both) are in play and offer great chances to win now, play in passionate hockey environments (CA possible exception) and choose the lifestyle, at least from a geographic pov, that you want. Vesey graduated from Harvard so he is not a dummy and has ideas on what is best for him from a hockey and post hockey career. So going the distance to ufa makes sense. I hope he signs but can see why he would choose someplace else. 50/50. And I don't have a problem giving a 3, I think it was aggressive but also professional to Nashville. GMTM is building a rep as a straight shooter that will serve the organization going forward. I don't think it alters his plans as I think all along he knew it was a gamble but part of a larger strategy.

Rubbish. Every other team's players are better than ours and our young guys will never develop to be great players. Trade em all. Give these ssers bread and circuses

It comes down to where. Any team can afford a max elc. If the fit is right he signs with that team. Anaheim, LA, Chicago SJ would welcome him with open arms. The kid can pick where, that's what the rules allow. My fingers are crossed its us, but no guarantee, now or in August. Sending a 3rd round pick for his rights is a strong message that we want him, but so does every other gm.

Nice work if you can get it. Wow, his agent should be in a hof.

That is outstanding PA. Nicely done.

He either signs before Friday or he doesn't sign at all. The money is the same for everyone. From Vesey's pov he isn't going anywhere where is not in the NHL lineup opening night. From the Sabres pov, I would think they want him in dev camp on July 6, if for no other reason than to gauge where he stacks up against the rest of the prospect pool. I think the only thing Vesey gains by waiting until Aug is to see if a cup favorite can afford him and has room for him. Tampa? I think no. Pittsburgh? not likely. Washington? Maybe. Kings? Probably if they don't sign some of their ufas...Chicago? Who knows what Bowman is capable of. The landscape will clear over the weekend and a bit more by July 4th. After that it will be clear what his options are. If he didn't sign with a cup contender (Preds) who guaranteed a top six role and would be willing to burn a year of his ELC, I really don't see any advantage to UFA status. If he really wants to play with Jack. Sign and be done with it.

1 playoff team2 team with back to back 2nd overalls 3 team who has no 1 overall pick. Stamkos changes 2 and 3.

I have him at 4. I was high on him last year as well and was trying to figure out a way to get back into the first to get him. Girgs would have been the key piece and his value was much higher last year.

I dont want SAMs bro. Pass

Who Has Higher Potential? Fasching, Bailey or Foligino?
3putt replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Yes they can. Too many passes bounce off of Bailey's stick. He has a tough time getting shots off if he isn't square to the target, he loses possession easily. He can improve but Hagelin has NHL hands. He catches pucks at speed, and can do something with them in tight spaces. Hagelin can pass with touch. -

I am rooting for him. He is a physical specimen and by all accounts a great kid. I hope someone other than Moulson takes him under their wing and shows him a path. I love his skating speed and all around motor. If that were true Foligno wouldn't have been in the thread title. -

Bailey lacks NHL hands, Fasching NHL quickness. Quickness will come with experience hands are much more difficult to develop. Maybe ROR can get him on the ping pong ball thing he does. That is all about hands. -
If they have to move Kutcherov sign me up.

Its possible, but I think to make a playoff run, or make the playoffs we need a true number 2. I have hopes for all the young d but young d make young d mistakes. I will not consider it a tragedy if we stand pat and dont make the playoffs. Patience is a virtue.

I think we could get above average growth from Sam and Jack, a bounce back year from Ennis and Gus, an unexpected rookie campaign from fill in the blank and we will be on the outside looking in unless TM was right about Lehner and we get someone go share the load with Risto. We dont need Orr, but we do need help.

I laughed.

This is my opinion as well. As a side note, a friend I play pick up with is in the Hawks fo. Operations and game day logistics. He does have access to intel though. When we were talking draft I mentioned I thought the Sabres were thinking D, and i thought Chychrun was Murray's choice, he laugbed and said you just traded a Chychrun for a Chychrun and you now are going to draft one? No attribution to the scouting staff, but an interesting comment from a guy with good insight.

Great article. Thanks for posting the link.

Disturbing. I am not advocating all of them. I was responding to what the CBJs might ne looking for. Torts likes the type of player that I referenced.
