I’ve said it in a couple posts that maybe different combinations are in order. I’m not saying anyone (aside from Bryson/Clifton) sucks. Mitts came on strong playing with top six linemates last year. Now he is arguably leading an offensively dangerous third line. A change of scenery, in house, might lead to some good results for other players as well.

Why remember these two games? What if they go on another 8 game losing streak in the middle of the season? That would hurt playoff chances more. I agree things need to change before this gets worse but I don’t understand how out of all the games any team loses, why two at the beginning of the season. How are these two consecutive losses more detrimental than two or more later in the season? Are games worth more points at the beginning of the season? What if they are tied with TBL at the end of the year and lose the final game of the season to TBL? Seems that loss would be worse than two that happened six months prior. SMH. I got a better idea. Let’s all pick a random game on the schedule and say if the Sabres lose, it’s that specific game that did it. Next we argue about how that game was “the one.”

I don’t expect DG to do anything. The franchise has spoken loudly through off-season inaction. They banked in catching lightning in a bottle twice with offensive production. The theory being with a good goalie in Levi we’d be competitive. I also think they thought Clifton would be that second pair, stay at home, defensive minded DMan. The franchise gambled. Top six are irrelevant right now. Clifton is a borderline liability. KO and Girgs are here as a sentiment and thank you for their historical effort. No I’m ice value from I have seen. It could be turned around but admitting there is a problem is the first step. I don’t see KA and DG as being ready to accept there is a problem. In part because the fact it’s only been two games will be applied as the ends all no big deal.

At this point I wouldn’t oppose different combinations of the top six. Two games in and they are irrelevant as is. Don’t touch the bottom six though.

As a fan watching from home it was pretty clear the play was onside. These video guys have more viewing options and get paid for this.

Well, those other GMs should be asking their scouting teams how they missed Benson’s potential.

In retrospect, our off-season consisted of shuffling dog **** third pair defenseman. When Clifton gets benched maybe we’ll be saved by inserting Bryson. Greenway Mitts Benson is a fun line to watch. The creativity is starting to show. KO gets slower and slower. Girgs is a non factor. Krebs has tenacity but needs younger, more agile linemates. I’m not commenting on the first line except they can’t seem to find each other.
