  1. Love these guys as individuals. But really, Ennis, Gerbe and Ott as my second line Really? I want to make the playoffs and draft low? Really?
  2. Lindy Ruff coached 14 full seasons with the Sabres. He made the SC finals once. During that period 18 different NHL teams made it to the finals at least one time. Does that make him great, terrible, or within the realm of mediocrity? I don't know, but it is something to ponder.
  3. Stand corrected. Thank you, and I am remiss for not digging that deep. Kudos to you. That is good value and shows Vancouver was searching for size and toughness before Kassian. Still, I think it is a mistake to let guys get into the last year of their contracts as potential UFA's at the end of the season.. ...........I might be full of it, but just my gut. I was told by a video scout, that Drury played us up to the free agent deadline, telling us he wanted to stay, then leaving for the Rangers.
  4. Wrong. Sabres trade D Campbell to San Jose for RW Bernier and 1st-round pick. Pick Became Ennis. I would say the jury is still out on Ennis being an all-star like Campbell. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3265432
  5. No that's putting words in my mouth also. What I've said is they will all be UFA's next year, and there needs to be a plan to either sign them before we let them become UFA's if they are in our plans For me, it is all about getting nothing for Drury, Briere and close to nothing for Campbell. I'm promoting a vision. And it scares the hell out of me that Darcy is in charge, or may be a lame duck. It could be mismanaged very easily. I'm okay with all staying, all going or a combination,if it makes us better. For all practical purposes, if anyone of the three are disenchanted enough with this organization, they will have the hammer the second they become UFA's. That isn't advocating for them to be traded. It's advocating for an organizational PLAN.

    playoff line

Beat Tampa Bay 2-1, playoff odds up 1 to 1.8%
  7. Right, which shows our poblems. There are much better teams in this league than TB.
  8. Would Vanek or Pommers be a top 3 forward on Tampa? Objectivity please.
  9. That would be the job of someone who is knowledgeable intimately whith this league and its prospects. I feel confident in saying that would likely include no one on this forum. and possibly no one in Sabre management. To think there isn't a trade available to improve this team which sends one ot those three out would be foolish. If one of them plays the Sabres and let's them think we can sign them next season when they have no intention of coming back, we could be in for a Campbell type trade. Which means, we get screwed. The fact that our three most desirable pieces are UFA's next year is a potential crossroads for this franchise.
  10. So you assume we can sign potential UFA's Vanek and Pommer and not have to overpay. They'll give us a discount to stay on this cup contender? I wouldn't if I were either one of them. Although, we do have a really nice dressing room with a logo on the carpet, an arena painted in blue and gold, and cup holders in the bathrooms.
  11. I humbly agree, and if anyone here expects a new GM to turn this travesty around in one or two years, you are extremely naive or sadly mistaken Toronto is better than us.. I hope to hell I'm wrong and I hope you all can throw this in my face someday. I'll gladly eat crow, but I don't expect to.
  12. True, and it would be even better if their was a power failure for the second period even in those two games.

    Waive Hecht

Right, everything you said is true and I agree with. He doesn't make the roster of what % of teams in this league. His contract is friendly. Who is picking him up if we waive him? We may find out.

    Waive Hecht

WE shut down no one. If that is his only role than he is failing miserbly and should likely be waived. Obviously this team is playing a meaningless season at this point. Realism says get young people experience. That is if DR hasn't screwed up the cap too much to bring kids in.
  15. Which one's do care in your opinion? I believe they all think they care, but spend so much time thinking in a game that should be reaction that it's tough to tell, Certainly, it's pretty easy to see who avoids contact (all but about 3-4). I'm not talking about thundering hits. I'd settle for rubbing a guy out, taking a hit to make a play, or even boxing out in front of Miller after a whistle. Miller's stock continues to rise during this debacle and he will be much sought by a team like PHILLY as a UFA if he is allowed to go into 2013-14 without a contract. He'll be gone for nothing or a Campbell like trade at the deadline, IMO. Vanek could fall into this same boat. This is a total debacle.
