  1. Teams win cups with a lot of different players. Like Power.
  2. “A few years” for Beniers. That’s … not reassuring. (Don’t mind waiting but it’s more so the risk of him getting three years into his college career and deciding what’s one more year before heading to free agency). It seems pretty apparent you’re not getting an immediate player this year, though. Those scout takes from Pronman have reassured me of the Power pick.
  3. As someone who had a neck injury in high school (was minor but as with neck/spine stuff I was told I was centimeters from being paralyzed) I should probably have just acknowledged this is a very tricky and dangerous spot to be in.
  4. It's a surgery on the disc which is putting pressure on the cervical spine though, no? So obviously it's a surgery that relates to the health of the spine but not a surgery on the spine? I'm not an expert here so I may be out to lunch.
  5. Yup. If it gets to game six maybe then you start to think about letting it slip because anything can happen in two games but I'd expect this thing to get wrapped up on Wednesday when they're at home with their families in the stands.
  6. For clarity's sake it's a disc surgery in his neck, not an actual spinal surgery.
  7. Montreal got the most unfocused and careless Tampa effort you're going to get and still barely snuck it out
  8. Hopefully this ends tonight so we can all move on.
  9. Yes, the report is that he'll be exempt because he missed the entire season due to injury and is therefore considered a second year player.
  10. This would be such a blunder for this team. Risto is a tradeable asset. He's an NHL player and not a bad one either. He is a bad player in the situation he has been put in but I firmly believe he can be a good second-pairing defensemen on a team that doesn't ask him to do everything. Losing him for literally nothing would be very Sabres. This isn't me necessarily disagreeing with you, either. I'm just saying it absolutely can not get to that point. If you're really on the verge of exposing Risto trade him for the best draft pick you can get and protect Borgen.
  11. You missed April 1st by a few days
  12. When a player under contract goes public with a “wherever” comment it’s exactly as the OP described it: all but a public trade demand.
  13. Burakovsky has been very good since joining Colorado I wouldn’t view him as a cap dump and I don’t think Colorado would either.
  14. Accusing people of using slurs and then suspending them when you get called out for not providing evidence is obnoxious.
  15. Wookie already mentioned it but Newhook and Byram are their two realistic pieces that make a lot of sense. Because their first is very low they would have to add more in rostered players or high-level prospects. I just don’t see how they afford Eichel, Rantanen, Landeskog, MacKinnon, a new Makar deal and a new Grubauer deal.
  16. It is most definitely true but it’s generally true for most free agents aside from a select few organizations.
  17. They bend and break. I just didn’t want to give them credit the way I did Tampa lol
  18. Ah, you are correct. Got the two conversations mixed up. The greatest player ever is indeed up for debate, I just know who I believe it is.
  19. The Patriots have actually violated the rules on several occasions, though.
  20. It happens across the board but no sports’ analysts do this more than hockey analysts. I remember a couple years ago several analysts hyped up the trade deadline as what was supposed to be the most active ever and then the night before all of them ***** themselves realizing they were wrong and came up with “there’s so many players available that everyone is waiting for the first shoe to drop so it’s likely nothing will happen!” This is the main reason I think a trade seems like a likely outcome even though my gut says it ain’t happening until it happens. The team hasn’t committed anything to their captain.
  21. Indeed it is. Babe Ruth seems to be the popular pick but it’s hard to ignore how much more talented players are in more modern eras. Baseball talent at the plate translates better through time, though.
  22. That’s not how any of this works this isn’t sci-fi. Nobody knows what would happen if something like that changed.
  23. Rewatching The Leftovers again which I highly recommend if you’ve got HBO. It’s a little different from your typical drama with some simple supernaturals at work. Christopher Eccleston does his best work in this and should’ve gotten some award recognition for it (you might know him as the first doctor of the new Doctor Who)
  24. I’ve noticed it to where hitting submit reply doesn’t do anything but if you refresh the page the response will still be there
  25. Matchups and bad coaching. They have neither advantage over Tampa.
