  1. I know. That was my point. They're both equally deserving of a second chance.
  2. As somebody who clearly leans left, I hope Ray Rice gets another shot. One incident should never define a person forever unless it was a mass event. There's a chance it wasn't the first or last time, but his wife has been extremely adamant and Rice has apologized many times. Some groups who advocate for women's rights have called for Rice to get another shot. Adrian Peterson got another shot after beating his child, but Ray Rice shouldn't be allowed near the league? Double standard there. That said, I don't want it in Buffalo. No need and we've already got enough of a circus here.
  3. Now a shooting hits much closer to home, and actually at home for many. 7 shot, 4 dead in Rochester tonight, those are the numbers at the time of this post.
  4. I don't think a team needs permission to use a color scheme. I would imagine there's some permission needed for logo and name usage, but I don't think Dallas would have an issue with an alumni game. How many Wild players could be playing in their alumni game? Darby Hendrickson (first-ever Wild goal), Manny Fernandez and Andrew Brunette? Pavol Demitra could've been involved, but may he rest in peace.
  5. This may be the case. The original tweet was poorly worded. I took it as meaning the players in the game will wear it, but I see why others took it another way. Disappointing if true. Vintage MN Hockey Vintage MN Hockey – ‏@VintageMNHockey "N-Stars players get to wear Stars jersey in Stadium Series alumni game, & Wild players will don something like this"
  6. The Wild NAILED this one if the leak turns out to be true... Below is a photo of what they will allegedly wear during their outdoor game. The alumni game will feature North Stars jerseys and the team will wear this (an obvious nod to the North Stars):
  7. (Not quoting LTS because that was long) Good post. I don't disagree with just about anything you're saying, although I think we can both agree a kiss is different than shoving your genitals on somebody else. There's a reason genitals are referred to as "private parts" and lips aren't. You shouldn't just go around kissing people, but it's absolutely part of dating if not explicitly said otherwise. And most of the time there will be obvious moves to say yes or no. If a woman or man says no to the kiss then fine, don't be a jerk in response. But if a man or woman attempts to rub genitals then there's absolutely a line crossed. That's not to say you need to scream "HEY WANNA GRIND!?" But when the woman isn't even aware of your existence and/or hasn't had any eye contact or contact otherwise with you then you don't proceed to go for it. That's what I'm getting at. However, the original point was his response to her. If he would've been like "my bad" then whatever. But the name-calling and acting like anything she did was whorish and wrong is the type of culture women face for not covering every inch of skin other than their arms and face. And it's not just a rave thing.
  8. Goodwin the man makes it easy to root for Goodwin the players. Always pulling for him to stay healthy and be the weapon he can be.
  9. Maybe I'm wrong but I believe that's exactly what was implied in the following lines: Now I like LTS so maybe he meant something else. But the above doesn't seem like it can be interpreted in many other ways.
  10. So there should be an expectation of sexual contact just because somebody attends a rave? Okay. THAT'S the BS that leads people to believe in rape culture. There is no situation in which sexual contact should be expected aside from a situation set up exclusively for that (as in "hey, want to go to my place and have sex?" "Yes, let's go). There shouldn't even be an expectation of sexual contact with an individual attending an 0rgy. What if they just want to watch? Unless somebody gives you permission or there's a mutual initiation then just don't do it. The gay bar example is completely different. I was at a gay bar last weekend because it was a friend's birthday and she felt like going. I got hit on as well. I just kept moving along. If somebody would've attempted physical contact without my asking then it's different. They're not the same.
  11. Why the Bills suck (part of a Deadspin series): http://deadspin.com/why-your-team-sucks-2015-buffalo-bills-1724824323 Always a must read.
  12. I think Josina is saying this is LeSean McCoy's opinion of what's going on with his hamstring but he's no doctor. Also, her source is probably McCoy himself. They're close friends.

  14. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/os-george-zimmerman-confederate-20150818-post.html There's a strong chance George Zimmerman is a racist. I'm shocked.
  15. Rex's update doesn't make me feel any better. Said the hamstring is still "intact" but an MRI is coming for McCoy. Ugh. Karlos Williams had a procedure of some sort and is out two weeks. Harvin has an injury worse than the team thought, but he should be back by the end of the preseason.
  16. Because he's a black mobile QB from Va. Tech? Cmon, this is so lazy. Also, McCoy left practice with a hamstring injury tonight. This could be very bad.
  17. If you start to ask why the first place you should look is EJ. Has he done anything other than look the part so far? No, he hasn't. He was safe for a few games but otherwise he was atrocious when it came to attempting to make accurate passes. You insist on calling Tyrod "strictly average" without having nearly enough evidence to support that. You're essentially saying we shouldn't give a guy any chance because we haven't given another guy enough chance. I think your opinion might be totally different if you had no idea when each was drafted. On a "great week of practice" before the scrimmage - this isn't the case from what I recall. He has been inconsistent at best in practice while Taylor has been consistent. EJ will have a solid but not great day and then a string of brutal performances on the practice field which perfectly reflects the player that he is -- he'll have a nice deep ball and may one or two good other throws before entire halves without a good play. I don't think it's too soon to give up on EJ. He's had two years to do something and has done nothing but disappoint. He got benched for Kyle Orton last season even after the team put him back in after a downright embarrassing Houston game. Tyrod showed the ability to make deep throws on multiple occasions in the preseason game. He had a deep ball that was into better coverage than what EJ saw on his deep ball, but the difference was Tyrod's target dropped it. Then he had a perfectly-placed 20-yard touchdown ball dropped. I'm more confident in Tyrod Taylor giving us a little more than mediocre than I am in EJ doing the same.
  18. I've heard very similar reflections from just about every woman I've discussed this issue with. Now it's a small sample size (20 or so, most of which were in a single classroom), but there's a theme. I often discuss some of the issues we discuss here with my girlfriend as she has insight I do not. I have never shared her insight on here as that's not my place, but she said she doesn't mind here. Without telling her the contents of Josie's post she mentioned almost exactly the invisible boundaries she feels she needs to stay within. She explained a scenario where she went to a rave dressed in shorts and a shirt showing her belly. A man attempted to "grind" on her (essentially he thrust his pelvis into her back and she/her friend shoved him away and shouted at him). He then proceeded to call her a "hoe" and mentioned that she shouldn't dress that way if she didn't expect guys to approach her. This guy, on the other hand, was shirtless wearing nothing but shorts and sandals. Her experiences and the way she expressed them were nearly identical despite being a bit more of a party girl than what Josie has described herself as. After she was done I showed her Josie's post and she agreed almost completely and said "very well said."
  19. Yes, it is. We're so uptight about sexual encounters that it's become a game for most men and some women. The "young banged HER" stuff gives men credits for having sex with certain women and further influences the men to make damn sure sex with them will occur. It further implants the "success through sex" mindset.
  20. Sizzle - Yikes man. You seem upset that Josie's post got great props and attention. Her post obviously has higher value than the others because she is explaining personal experience whereas most of us aren't experienced in the matter.

    Briere?

During his presser in Philly Briere said he thought he would be a Sabre for life. Me too, Danny, me too.
  22. Rex and Tyrod never crossed paths in Baltimore. I don't think Rex knew nearly enough about him to hitch his wagon to him, especially considering how the QB position is almost exclusively the reason he got canned in NY. Why risk your job security yet again on a guy you have nearly no way of knowing much about? I knew the second I started reading this post that it was all about trying to find a reason to excuse EJ's lack of opportunity. EJ hasn't helped himself. Hell, he hit the hospitality tent at camp (if you've been to camp you know this is absolutely brutal). He's just not good. He never was. Avid college football fans were left scratching their heads at his selection, and they were justified after seeing him in the NFL/camp. Meanwhile Tyrod was a guy who played electric and consistently in college, but he lacked the pro-style offense and body. Most thought he would be a WR or running back, but the Ravens drafted him as a QB only. Harbaugh, who would know, was blown away by him but knew he was never unseating Flacco. Obviously a bunch of the praise was probably due to Tyrod being a player on his team and bumping up his value, but so far it's been warranted from what we've heard/seen in Bills camp. Oh, also: he's not a huge risk. We don't know much about his floor yet. The assumption that he is a risk is all about him being another small mobile QB. At Va. Tech he was as safe as it gets while still making big plays all the time. In 50 games he threw 44 TDs and just 20 INTs. His senior year he had 5 INTs and 2 fumbles. He had just three 2 INT games out of 50 in college (none his senior year). Obviously he's probably changed quite a a bit since college, but those are the best statistics we have.
  23. This discussion should've ended with Josie's post above. I feel comfortable considering her an authority above all others on this issue, and I have heard the very same thoughts from many (men and women) who discuss the matter. "Rape culture" is a violent-sounding term which makes people uncomfortable admitting that their country has such an issue. It's a real issue in America. Slamming feminists over single-issue politics and shoving them in your "PC" corner is totally weak.
  24. I mainly just wanted a reason to post this, but a quick google search shows she's represented by an actual modeling agency. http://www.wilhelmina.com/los-angeles/models/mainboard/women/673588/mara-teigen
