I think it’s worth considering what being a buyer at the deadline might do to Skinner’s willingness to re-sign. Maybe he’ll see a franchise that isn’t ready to just say “okay, at least we’re not in last place anymore” and find that more appealing. I also don’t think Skinner gets traded in any circumstance unless he demands one or everything falls apart between now and the deadline.

This is unfamiliar territory lol

I’m still very interested in pursuing Tyler Toffoli. If we could pull off getting him without giving up a first I’d be stoked. I would also be willing to give them a first and next to nothing on top of that to make it happen. Maybe the worst first we get this season and a throw in from the low end of our prospect pool (Bailey, Bryson, Malone). Mark Stone is the ultimate deadline prize and I’d be willing to give a similar cost. Maybe a little more but he’s expiring.

I’m not assuming that at all. I just know it’s too early to say whether we’re buyers and it’s too early to say whether those picks should just be kept. Super overrated. This was a thing before the tank but I think the tank especially conditioned many of us to think almost exclusively about the draft and cheap, young talent. IDEALLY, we keep those picks and add to the roster with other assets to push this team firmly into the playoffs. Worth noting: we got our leading goal scorer without giving up a first-round pick.

Your first thought was on point. It’s too early. Your second thought does not follow the first one. We simply don’t know enough yet to make blanket statements about what should and shouldn’t be done (unless it’s done trade Jack Eichel/Rasmus Dahlin).

This is my feeling and why I wouldn’t be on board here. But I’m interested in hearing other’s arguments.

I understand the idea here is we’re not interested in paying what it would realistically take to get him (and that’s fine, I’m not either), but those offers aren’t in the stratosphere of what he’d cost. My initial thought was something along the lines of Reinhart, two firsts, Guhle and maybe even another prospect would be the actual cost. That’s not something I think I want to do, but I think that’s closer to what his value is. I think the piece that might intrigue them above all else from our NHL roster is Risto, though.

You’re fine. I chuckled.

So... the Buffalo News did a profile piece on Patrick Kane as he turns 30. A little weird, but it was a reminder of the days we all spent wondering about his possible future as a Sabre someday. Let’s pose the question: with the Blackhawks struggling and looking like they’re in need of a roster flip and some cap flexibility, would you have any interest in trading for Kane? If so, for what?

With her experience behind the scenes in football it’d make way more sense for her to be assistant GM or something along those lines

Adam Schefter reporting the Browns are interested in interviewing Condoleezza Rice for their head coaching spot. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25310452/cleveland-browns-want-interview-condoleezza-rice-head-coaching-job

Last year they dumped Stastny last year then went on a run. I think they end up giving us a very nice early teens pick.

The way I’m intently watching the standings this early in the season reminds me of how fully invested I was in the tank from day one my god.

I’m seeing a couple Minnesota fans on Twitter say Pominville was known at King of Ping with them because he was either hitting the post and missing or his shot would go off the pipe and in. That’s so incredibly appropriate for him. I remember an OT game a couple years ago against Tampa (I believe) where his slapshot from the point on a power play went off the post and in. I was up in the last row behind that net and was so shocked how loud it was. Also as I type I realized that was like six years ago holy crap. Edit: it was Carolina.

Okay this is going to be an ugly one. We were due.

Wtf

Chara out at least four weeks then will be re-evaluated. We play Boston in four weeks + one day. We play them again after that in what is exactly six weeks from today. My guess is he’s not playing in either of those games. Then we play them AGAIN a week after that last game so three times in a couple weeks at the edge of his “re-evaluation” period.
-
Team is on a four-game winning streak and is in a good playoff standing but we’re all complaining because the coach isn’t playing a guy who has zero goals in his last 20 games.
-
The trade isn’t a failure. Not keeping him would be.

I like Rodrigues’ energy but I still don’t feel like he’s bringing much more than Berglund or Sobotka and am completely fine with those two drawing in over him.

Man, I gotta move. -
Not really concerned about the last few years. I think Kane staying would’ve been nice (trading him was the right move when it was clear the team and player didn’t want to stick together) but I’m thinking more about when we wanted to win hockey games. It’s been a while.

It’s always good to check yourself lol

Oh yea there’s more games to play after last night. Winnipeg is better than Minnesota but can’t underestimate this team. Dubnyk always tough to beat. Not feeling great about this one but eventually you just gotta believe.
-
It is. I’m tired of people leaving. You’ve got to retain talent to win. If he leaves this team takes a huge step back. That’s a failure for any GM.
