I agree our cap situation is very good over the next few years. We’ll see where it is when Dahlin signs but that’s not for another three offseasons. And the point above is one people often forget when talking about how to fit in a new deal. The “old” deal for that player is also “coming off the books.” You’re only adding a couple million to the cap hit as opposed to the full $9M or whatever he gets.

With how well the Wings have played this entire month and even looking at the end of last months it’s kind of wild they still are where they are in the standings. The loser point really makes it hard to make up ground quickly. True. The Sabres will fly home after the game I imagine.

The league thinks and knows this but needs to stop. Grow the game and stop putting some imaginary hipster wall around your sport. Things like this could help do that.

Thought this was the case: today is the first time during the eight-game winning streak that the other team has scored a goal in the 3rd to either take or extend a lead. They’ve only given up two goals in the third period over the last eight games.
