  1. What would their record be with THIS team? (Meaning no Eichel)
  2. Yup. Beane talked about getting faster which we’ve done with Sanders and Breida (and I suspect they’ll target a speedy WR in the draft).
  3. It's certainly helped this team. *whispers* I miss Tim Murray. He never should've been fired. He was enough of an ***** to do things without the Pegulas.
  4. It’s still my favorite thing that the Bruins passed on Barzal THREE STRAIGHT TIMES. Not to mention Kyle Connor... Barzal should’ve been the third pick in that draft (which I said then, too).
  5. They were already over the cap and will need about $6M to sign the draft class so currently they don’t have any money even with the restructure. But the salary cap is also made up so we’ll see. It feels like they’re pretty content hoping continuity is the answer which would be an interesting approach considering they haven’t improved as everyone in the division does. They also haven’t improved from a place where they couldn’t contend against the Chiefs.
  6. Big no from me on trading up for a RB. I'm more willing to take one at 30 than a lot of people but no way this team is in a position to give up a handful of players on rookie deals to land a RB. I think we might miss Roberts' ability to consistently give the offense good field position and not realize it.
  7. UPL holds the fine position of being one of a very select few potential bright spots for this franchise's future (despite so-so numbers in ROC, though I honestly have paid very little attention to ROC hockey lately). I look forward to him getting a small taste, understandably struggling and us all assuming the worst.
  8. That was my first impression but then I remembered we have a GM that isn't well-versed in hockey management and an ownership group that isn't well-versed in hockey logic so I immediately assumed it's all ironclad facts.
  9. My mind right now is on giving it one more go with Eichel because you’ve got to exhaust all opportunities there before moving him. There’s really not a whole lot aside from catastrophic injury that lowers his value a year from now. LA is definitely a fit as far as getting him out west, finding a team/city he’d likely desire and having pieces we’d want ... but unless a guy like Vilardi takes off and becomes involved in the deal I’d want to get a third team and redirect a guy like Turcotte and one of those firsts there to get a 25-or-young guy that’s already on NHL ice. Also, hello everyone.
  10. I'm somewhere in the middle of the "trade Eichel" and the "are you $%^@^@ stupid!?" camps. It's so hard to find elite talent like him - he truly is one of the most talented players to ever play for this franchise ... but it's also pretty clear this whole thing is going nowhere fast. Different sport but there was an argument for years that the Mariners should've moved Felix Hernandez for the massive haul he was worth to help build an actual roster and they never did. You wonder if we're in a similar boat. All of those proposals above are absolute trash except the Kings one, though. You HAVE to get at least one KNOWN young NHL commodity in that deal, though. Adrian Kempe isn't quite that. I don't think LA really has that. Vilardi is close but not a definitive yet.
  11. Not only that but the logic doesn’t really make sense there. He’s not going to sign an offer sheet for $1.5M less than he wants. You sign an offer sheet because you get what you want (or close to it).
  12. Maybe he shouldn’t have made a racist comment. We can only judge people based on the actions they present to us. It was a racist comment. It’s not that difficult. This problem would go away much faster if people stepped up and called people on their *****. Now we’re playing dumb, too?
  13. Your definition of racism above fits what he said. He is saying because of their blackness they are just wannabe gangsters. He stated this is why their sport sucks.
  14. Imagine defending a racist comment because semantics are more important to you.
  15. “Wannabe gangsters” is unarguably racist.
  16. Nope. Racist. Moving on...
  17. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand you’re racist.
  18. The guys just below tier one are often more in line for long-term deals because they want that security, though. That makes them next to impossible to offer sheet because if you go to seven years it’s hard to keep the compensation below the multiple firsts. A 7-year deal for $3M is a first and a third. A 7-year deal for $4.5M is a first, second and third. A 7-year deal for $6M per it’s two firsts, a second and a third. A 7-year deal for $7.6M per is four firsts.
  19. Not an exaggeration: I initially typed this exact thing. Then I realized it's the most entertaining in-season, too. It's an unfair comparison, though. It's a sport that allows for way more personality. You're shoving ten guys onto the smallest playing field of any and (yes, I think this is a factor) they wear the smallest uniform in men's major pro sports. You get to know these guys better than any league. That and the product is so damn good. Easy to create villains and heroes.
  20. I've been trying to concoct a lineup based on the pieces they have right now and, frankly, it's almost impossible to find a reasonable combination. I don't think GMJB is done. Vesey always seemed like it was a handshake deal that he wanted to wait on while he worked on other things first. Maybe he's already got that with another move or two? I also think, despite the fact that he's played wing almost exclusively for the last several seasons, Johnasson has to play center for the group they have right now. Other moves can change that, though. Based on what they have: Skinner - Eichel - Olofsson Vesey - Johansson - Reinhart Sheary - Mittelstadt - Okposo Sobotka - Girgensons - Rodrigues
  21. What a wild time in the NBA, easily the most entertaining league in America. There’s so many teams that can contend in the West now. Sad to see Kawhi go but have zero hard feelings and hope he wins one with the Clippers now, too. He brought so much joy to Toronto, Canada and the NBA. An all-LA Western Conference Finals sounds fun.
  22. I keep a box of peanuts in my desk at work this stereotype checks out
  23. This is fair but then teams would match even more often.
