On the positive side: Dahlin turned the corner into a stud, and Power has progressed nicely all year. I thought Power was going to be a Dahlin redux of sorts (put up good numbers, but be god awful in his own zone). Offense is more dynamic than I thought it would be On the negative side: Really thought Mittelstadt was going to have 2021-22 Tage Thompson type year. Team defense is very lackluster and is still committing multiple sins (not getting the puck deep, forwards missing assignments, watching the puck instead of taking the body, etc.) that plagued them last year.

This is a disgrace. We are fanning on everything, reaching for pucks, and wandering around the zone like a bunch of Mites. Take the freaking body!

What’s up with Thompson? There is patience, and there is holding the puck too long with indecision. He’s been plagued with this for a few periods now.

That goal brought a tear to my eye. The effort! I want to see Zemgus in the playoffs so bad. He deserves it!

I never would have thought a coach could screw up somebody so bad, yet here we are. Dahlin looks vastly different from the beginning of last year, and gets better with every game. The guy just has a superstar presence now.

I don’t recall a west coast trip like this. Maybe back in the Hasek days? Just rolling!

I always like looking at preseason scratches because they are always so weird. Sabres scratched Artem Kriukov?!!! They have scratched him for like 20 years now.

This interview is pretty telling, especially the emotions at the end. It bolsters my belief we finally are turning a corner. Their view on selecting players is very logical, which is refreshing to see.
