  1. The Sabres have looked really good in their defensive zone on balance I think from what I have seen so far. Very good coverage of the guys without the puck, for the most part do not chase the player with the puck and often times force tough passes to guys who are either covered or tied up or a shot that is relatively easily saved. Light years ahead of any time I can remember over the last decade.
  2. I have much more faith in Comrie to continue this than I do Anderson. Comrie was ranked #2 in the entire NHL in expected goals saved above average per 60 minutes next to Shesterkin last year.
  3. Record is held by Lawrence "Baldy" Northcutt way back in 1932-1933 with the Montreal Maroons! Dahlin is the only other defenseman besides Victor Hedman back in 2013-2014 to score in 3 consecutive games since ex-Sabre Calle Johansson in 1992-1993 did it with Washington. UPDATE: NHL apparently has concluded that Baldy played forward some of those games so he does not count in this record and it is Dahlin's alone!
  4. Nice win but giving up almost 50 shots isn't going to get you the Dub very often.
  5. Great job to be up 3-1 but they need to stay focused and keep playing their game. There is no lead that is safe against this Oiler team.
  6. It's two games. Won't be worried until it reaches 15 or so
  7. It's a fair result. Panthers are deeper, more experienced and simply better than we are.
  8. Why is it so hard to show the shots on goal next to the score like every other station does now? They started to at the beginning of the game and then it went away... WTF MSG?
  9. Dahlin is so good but he needs to stop with these silly turnovers in his own end...the ones that are completely pointless when he tried to do a drop pass to nobody except the other team
  10. Yeah, it will improve as they gain experience throughout the year. Necessary growing pains unfortunately for the youngest team in the NHL
  11. Sabres still turn the puck over way too much and especially the needless turnovers
  12. Sabres seem a little overmatched talent wise but they are scrappy and I like it. Pretty succinct and accurate. A few nice defensive plays to break up other odd man rushes that could have made the score more lopsided.
  13. Ehh...I have to disagree with that one...his metrics were among the worst in the NHL. Nope, I'm only 47 but it definitely takes a lot more work to prevent injury and to warm up prior to activities...also have a lot more nagging injuries than when younger even when taking extra precautions.
  14. wouldn't be the first time the Sens were a bad matchup for the Sabres...I believe in the year we beat them in the playoffs on Pominville's OT winner that we lost every game to them in the regular season.
  15. The one thing I will say is that outside the breakaways and stupid giveaways in their own zone they played a very nice defensive structure...there were not players skating around by themselves, they were covered up pretty nicely by Sabre players.
  16. Yeah that was freaking nice...that puck went into the net so fast I thought he kicked it or it hit his shin and bounced off him and into the net
  17. Just "OK" huh? I guess stopping 4 breakaways, a 2-0 and a few 2 on 1's and was just "OK"? He is basically the only reason the Sabres were not down 5-1 going into the 3rd and why Ottawa never tied the game late. Team had too many giveaways in their own end trying to make "cute" exit plays...like Dahlin dropping the pass to the other team near the blue line to set up a 2 on 0 the other way on Anderson.
  18. Better for the Amerks maybe? Dude sucks
  19. I get the sense in 2 or 3 years the Sabres and Sens are going to revive their epid playoff battles of years past. The two youngest teams in the league but they have lots of talent ready to blossom.
  20. And tried to skate through 4 dudes instead of dumping it in.
