  1. I was just going to add, I guarantee that all makes sense to Terry and he's completely oblivious to how much Jason is floundering. He probably views this whole thing as a big mystery
  2. I just listened to the interview. There is a good chance that we are looking back at this time wondering why the hell we ever let this guy handle our roster for three years I've never felt this bleak about this team He has no idea what the problems with this roster are, he thinks it's just players not doing what they are capable of, and that changing lines and magic Ralph words will fix it He is unaware of the problems his decisions with Tage and Mitts caused, and is about to do the same to Dylan He doesn't understand our offensive zone woes and will not know how to find players that play in a way that fixes them This is unreal
  3. Was Jason just being defensive there or does he really believe this team generates an acceptable amount of offense? "behind their NHL norms" might actually truly be his view of this hockey team he wants to sign Simmonds? get this man out
  4. I'm pretty sure that was a main criticism of their last few years, and a driver of the decision to blow it all up
  5. Sweet, I feel like that's comparatively early
  6. Why would the Anaheim Ducks' concessions intern know anything about Botterill
  7. I just read that the Amerks have won only 12 of their last 31 games
  8. I don't think these contradict - since it says after the first interview, while I got from Beane that he was saying that it wasn't McDermott who grabbed him from Carolina and dictated the hiring
  9. Bruh, the Pegulas really like Botterill. If the situation was much better than the one he inherited, he wouldn't get fired
  10. Even with your worry about the tendency to want his own guys versus his predecessor's, a baseline competent GM can make two medium sized correct offseason move and have this team in the playoffs next year, amid all of this. There is no world in which any GM comes to this roster and says "we need to be bad longer." They should be licking their chops that they have a completed defense, a decent goalie that can probably handle a now rather typical 40-50 games, and four pretty nice forwards, along with hopefully a complete fourth line. They can start the process of bringing their own guys in by making a middle six splash, adding a goalie, and continue tinkering while the Sabres finally join the >50% of teams that stumble their way into the playoffs any given year. This might be a foreign concept to us as Sabres fans, but the only reason that this "switch" needs to entail being bad is because we hired a bad GM. It can happen while we have fun along the way. Had ROR been dealt for Lindholm instead, had we acquired decent forwards in 2017 rather than the worst UFA collection in Sabres history, that's what would have happened with Jason.
  11. Completely with you. They have access to easily-navigated footage of the entire careers of every skater on this roster, and what they combined to produce as a team in the 2019-2020 season. Zero reason to not know exactly what this team is and what it needs by the time it's time for moves. Zero reason for any expectations to be below playoffs for next season, no matter who the GM is.
  12. Glad he's okay. Separately, ***** him for taking our best player out of the series
  13. Well now I know for sure that I can trust what follows to be accurate
  14. That lost point came in a shootout loss
  15. We got 7 of 8 points versus Detroit
  16. That was neither a Marty season nor Miller's Vezina season But I getcha
  17. I have to say, I unironically believe that all fans who boo at a time deemed unjustified by myself deserve permanent bans from KBC
  18. Now this would be some creative moderation. You want your warning points to come off? Make something interesting for the board to read
  19. And Jack didn't just say "I'll go out and play," he said the whole team feels that way. Also I don't want Terry in those hierarchies either but he always will be
  20. In all seriousness, given his last five years and the role he played for soccer team, he's arguably more qualified to be the guy that makes sure things are running smoothly from the top than the guy drawing x's and o's on the whiteboard every day. I couldn't fathom not being more excited by Terry -> Krueger -> Gillis -> Boudreau than Terry -> Botterill -> Krueger
  21. Know more about hockey than Terry Pegula
  22. President of Hockey Operations: Ralph Krueger General Manager: Mike Gillis Head Coach: Bruce Boudreau
  23. The more I think about it, the more I worry that our cap space (and by extension, number of spots to fill) is actually a problem in that, this may be the worst UFA crop I've ever seen, we don't have a lot of desirable assets that we'd be willing to move (teams demonstrably don't like Risto, and Montour's track record in Buffalo doesn't make him particularly valuable) and don't even have a full slate of draft picks to be comfortable with tossing them around to beef up trade value. Our roster could easily be as empty next year as it was this year, if things don't go well.
  24. Don't even let yourself entertain this idea though, it's never going to happen. It's what I told myself as ROR rumors ramped up. It'd be multiple lesser pieces
  25. Marty left the Sabres 3 seasons before his Vezina season. His backup was Lalime
