This is where the stories likely differ. I believe Stevens was around 27 and in his prime when he had most of the bones in his face broken. He was probably given pain pills after that, and shortly after that incident he was never really the same. I haven’t watched the story on it in awhile, but here it is:

I gave up seasons years before that because of how bad they were. Now I’m perilously close to giving up Fubo and not watching at all. The Sabres are important to me, but I’m ready to check out.

I don’t think he’s NHL ready yet, he still needs to cook. I don’t think this is a good comparison. Samuelsson def has far better wheels than McCabe has ever had.
