  1. Yeah i'd agree. Its definitely not what we're hoping for. NHL average to me would be say top 15 in the league. But our goaltending has been so bad that if average is all we had, if thats what we had this year we'd probably have 10 more points in the standings & be in the playoffs. After 11-12 years it hurts that its really all it would've taken, just being average.
  2. at this point if Levi becomes nothing more than an average NHL goalie... I'll take it. Thats how bad our goaltending has been. But we used to take pride in having good goaltending. It was part of our identity & we just got away from it... I hope Levi brings that respectability back. Some fear would be nice too! It'd be nice to have a goalie other teams feared playing against.
  3. best defense is no defense i guess... maximum offense!
  4. Had hoped it might've been the Goat but this makes sense too
  5. if you or anyone else needs a link to watch it, send me a dm & i can send you the best website i've ever used. Its been my go to for all things hockey, NHL, AHL, QHL, NCAA, SHL etc Anyways i'm excited for Levi's start tonight. It should inspire the boys around him to play defense... you'd think at least! I hope its a good competitive game & Devon's debut is a good one. With this team it could be 4 goals against in the 1st period, u just never know. But i'm thinking good thoughts.. good thoughts, it'll be good haha.
  6. besides from the visa, i know they were waiting on some of his equipment to arrive. His official team gear, and then Levi will need time to break in the new pads & chest gear before playing in it. Probably 2-3 days alone just to do that i would think? Wondering when is the soonest we might expect to see him
  7. they should be allowed to get their money back. We want a refund!
  8. the lesson these youngsters are learning will be invaluable to their future development. Trust the process, its all going to plan ps: rock 'em Sabres!
  9. it definitely feels wrong because when I was a kid & first became a fan, good goaltending was part of our identity. It was part of who we were. And then like so many other things... it just wasn't anymore. Barrasso thru Miller to these lost years that just. wont. end. 10 years since Miller. 10 freakin years & we finally found one (Ullmark)... only to let him go... for nothing. yeah it definitely feels wrong
  10. exactly. You're surely not going to buy him out & take a loss. You limit his ice time & work out whats wrong with the intent he improves. Or you send him to the Roch. We only do something wit Comrie if we bring in another goalie. Until that day happens he will be in our organization.
  11. we were out of the playoffs when our GM decided it wasnt that important. Did he make a concerted effort to accomplish that goal? Was it even a goal in the 1st place? If the answer isn't yes to both of those then therein lies the problem i guess? ps; yes i know all about the long term plan
  12. yeah i thought he shouldve been pulled after the 1st period. But if not the 4th goal surely the 5th. I dont really understand why you'd leave him in. I'm no expert but it was hard to watch
  13. I watch it on the best hockey website to view hockey ive ever seen. Basically any camera on the ice anywhere in the world is available to view for free. Sabres, Amerks, Finnish Hockey, KHL, OHL, QWHL, NCAAD1 Womens, any alphabetic letter you can think of. More than happy to give the link to pm's
  14. Casey has come a long way from this. I've really been impressed
  15. Sure would've been nice, being this close to the playoffs after missing it the past 11 years. It sure wouldve been nice to use 1 of our 3 2nd rd picks on someone like Luke Schenn. Not altering the long term plan, not sacrificing a future star. Just bringing in some help to shore up our backend & give us a boost, since we're this close to making the playoffs. Can you imagine the education & experience our young players would get from getting in? Not to mention the boost of confidence in our team & the plan? Beating a deadhorse but it sure woulda been nice
  16. C- C being average, the minus for delivering on our already low expectations. Hope that doesnt sound too harsh, not my intent haha
  17. Idk about a 4th but we can probably both agree on: anything more than a 2025 7th. A 7th rd pick next year would make sense. Im not gonna hate on KA for the return, just surprised it wasnt a little more
  18. the team last night showed what the future looks like if we don't bring in any outside help for our D. The future didn't look so bright last night, with the only thing being sacrificed: our Sabres.
  19. I think anythings a possibility until you can rule it out. Given the question marks we have at goal, with Levi being no sure thing himself, if Portillo believes in himself there's no reason to think he cant see an opportunity here. But in the Buffalo News he was quoted saying: he was recommended to go this route, as a business decision. So perhaps Levi is part of it? I'd imagine with a decision like this, its a combination of factors, pros & cons & the cons here were too much, for whatever reason
  20. I'd guess its because we haven't sniffed the playoffs in 11 years. We finally have a team in an actual position to end that streak. We have lots of assets in players & picks & while you don't want to alter the long term plan, a little boost seems worth the risk to give yourself a legit shot to make the post season, something we havent done since 2012. At some point the calculus has to change
  21. i can see & even agree that Chychrun wasn't an ideal fit given everything already said on it. But how does one explain away passing on Schenn? A lot of the concerns or reasons against trading for Chych u didnt have with Schenn & i'd say we had the surplus of resources needed to get him or someone like him. If Stillman is the tip of the spear this trade deadline, it will have been a missed opportunity & disappointing for sure. Fan base wont go anywhere tho, we've made it this far haha
  22. i could see it being possible until you see the return Arizona received. Surely we couldve beaten it without sending Savoie, so i cant see Arizona turning down a better offer because they're upset we wont give them Savoie. That doesnt really make much sense. Simpler explanation is KA didnt think he was worth this, for whatever reasons he has.
