Justin Bailey is going to be a good NHL winger! ?
-
We still have a long way to go on defense. Aside from the potential of Dahlin, and a decent contribution from Risto, where is the O coming from on the back end? Baloo has not shown what it looked like he had (30points in Montreal) McCabe is ok, Scandella is alright but might be gone anyway, Nelson perhaps and maybe Guhle will contribute, but remains to be seen. So it's too early to say we are ahead of Leafs on D, right? If the prospects turn out, that will be wonderful

Thanks, keep up the great work!

That last sentence. There is a lot of pressure to turn things around quickly.

Lol, and we used Vanek to get...

I wish he was in charge in 2007, he would have let Vanek go and we would have been better for it!

They were just throw ins for salary, Thompson and the picks are all that really matter -

Actually, I'd say the odds would be against us being a contender, but that's sports. What are the odds of being a contender keeping ROR? I'd say less. This is all playing the odds. Get younger, get chances at picking good players and play hockey, hopefully it works. For 30 teams next year it won't. I like the trade because I think it increases our chances in the near future of being better. That's it. -

In four years we should be a cup contender and ROR will be over thirty. I'd rather roll the dice on the young players at THAT time. This is a young league -

It matters because it shows we have a chance to pick another player as good or better...actually, three chances. And those players will be here when it matters. -

That's right, this is all about timing. -

Garbage?? ROR was a 2nd round pick and we got two firsts and a second for him. Odds are--and this is all about playing the odds--we win this trade in the long run. He is 27 and will be over 30 by the time we make our run for the cup. -

Good! I'm tired of short sighted thinking. This is almost all about filling in the cracks, as our core is pretty much set. Will ROR even be playing in three years? He might not be. Ill be a Sabres fan when those players are ready, won't you? This is a young league and this is a great move to ensure a steady flow of talent while the core is maturing. If I was going to try and establish a dynasty here around Jack and Dahlin, I'd want more players ready to go in about four years. Three first round picks next year?? Yes! But for how long? Are we really going to make a run at the cup while he is still good? -

One? Kane was gone anyway and we got a first round pick for him. ROR has brought three young players any one of whom could be good or all of them could be good. This is a young league, better to have lots of youth in the pipeline. -

Worst team in league makes a trade, fans scream the sky is falling. Really?? -

It probably never ends, you should always be bringing in new, young talent. I see this as a good trade because ROR won't be even playing when this young core is moving into their prime, or even maturing. This is a young league, ROR already had a surgery for his groin, now in two years, as Jack and company are hitting stride reinforcements will be filtering in. Thompson and the draft picks will be playing in this league years after ROR is off to retirement land. I like the trade. -
Love that! No singing!

I disagree. Jack, Darin and Samson won't be in their primes for years yet. By the time they are this group of draft picks, player (Thompson) will have shaken out, with the picks next year, and hopefully some real talent gets found. I like stocking the pond--no trading away picks! -

True, but drafts are getting deeper. The more picks you have, the better your chances. Gotta be in it to win it, lol -

The two vets were salary dumps so we could get the young players. JBott now has a Sabre legacy going forward. Those three young players could have an impact for over a decade -

I think I'm ok with this. It's a long term thing, we got a lot of young players in return, namely the young center and first rd pick Thompson, the the first and second later on. That is great for the long term health of the organization.
