    All it takes is 1 preseason game for a player to jump from sure-fire bust to a better prospect than our 2nd overall. Darcy really aught to write the kid an apology letter.

    Our offense is bad. Really bad. It doesn't look anything like a real NFL offense. EJ and Hackett both need to get way better. I at least think it's possible for EJ to improve, while I haven't seen anything suggesting Hackett will. CJ played an OK game. Like Blue said, he misses the right read sometimes, but he's so fast that it doesn't matter some plays. Freddy was a beast, and I'm sorry I said you looked old week 1. Our defense played solid, but couldn't get off the field when it mattered. Second week in a row that we let the other team convert huge 3rd and longs. They also got worn down over the day, so also kind of the offense's fault. The refs didn't call offensive holding at all. Both teams were doing it a shitload and the refs didn't bat an eye. JJ Watt actually complained about it, but he seemed to be the only one. Reffing is more inconsistent game-to-game in the NFL than any other league. It's infuriating.

    The ref that called yesterday's game was the same one who called last weeks Bears-49ers game. Both games had terrible pace due to the sheer amount of penalties called. Our game wasn't half as bad as that Bears game, though. There were 2 separate stretches of 6 straight plays that ended in penalties. Did I think the reffing in the Bills game was fair? Nope. Did I think that with fair reffing the Bills would have even come close? Nope. Has anybody said that? Because I haven't read it in this thread. Also: SD is a good team. The sky is not falling. ...yet

    I'd much rather discuss closing the book on the Hackett experiment. Chan Gailey knew how to get CJ in space, he just needed to call his number a few more times a game. Hackett seems to think he just needs to get CJ the ball and it doesn't matter what play is called.

    Today, we got beat in the trenches. The refs were also brutal. Our coaches were also calling scared. Taking 9 extra yards of field position instead of trying to convert a 4 and 1 around the 40 is a Dick Jauron move. I know it's our team's philosophy to play to not lose, but when you're playing against a better team it elminates almost all chances to win.
