Tonight's episode, wow. Made me cry.
-
I'm glad that you and everyone else likes Ted Nolan.
-
His name sounds like potty anyways. Who needs 'im?
-
This is what I said. If you can't make sense of that, I don't know what to say. So Hodgson just fell off the table and the coach, who hates him, had nothing to do with it? I'm not absolving Hodgson of blame, but I'm positive he'll bounce back next year under a different coach.

It's just decent, cheap beer.
-
Can you share the site? I don't remember Grigorenko ever getting a fair shake. Can you also link an article where it was reported that he rubbed the vets the wrong way?
-
Probably Yuengling. PBR ain't bad.

Players hated Grigorenko? Grigorenko was put on the top line? I don't think either of those things ever happened. I understand that it helps teams when there's a pecking order based on what was earned, but when your team is the worst in the league, who cares that 2 lines of AHL plugs might be jealous that Grigorenko is a player with god given talent and is being developed as such? To the bolded... okay? That came out of nowhere and I still don't understand why you asked it. I said that Nolan would have no problem with McDavid. Murray has a system? Do we know that system? So far all I can tell is that he likes big bodies who can skate, so he's following the LA blueprint. Grigorenko is not a one dimensional player. Just because he's not ready for the NHL doesn't mean that he all of the sudden can't play defense. Jeebus.

I was referring specifically to players that need to be put in a position to succeed. ie Hodgson, Grigorenko. I also never said a single thing about elite NHL talent. If he's going to be here, put him in a position to succeed. Not every player is the same. Nolan seems unable to get anything out of players that don't fit his mantra.
-
I'll add it to the Summer list. Didn't some Brits admit that it was a ruse? I don't have a very good working knowledge of WWI, the last good American History teacher I had was around 10 years ago, and he mostly taught us Civil War stuff.

   Nolan is the nobody whisperer. If there's a player with NHL talent that needs to be put in a position to succeed, he seems to prefer putting a plug in his place, even though the ceiling of that move is a lot lower. Obviously, any coach could handle McDavid. By all accounts he's an incredibly hard worker.

We love our Fred. And who can blame us? True. I know PA's idea of Terry's intelligence and guile, though, so I seriously can't wait for him to post about it.
-
SFiR, Patty correctly pointed out to me in the roster notes thread that Grigo has been getting ~15 minutes TOI per game. So while it's not ideal, it's not Hodgson bad.
-
Nice! My sister's boyfriend started learning last winter and joined our team this year. I told him that if you're not falling over every other shift, you're not skating hard enough.
-
I can't wait for PA to sink his teeth into this. This sounds a bit beyond that, but of course we don't know the details.
-
Do it Wook. I got a late start, and as long as you're not worried about being the worst player on the ice for the first year or so, you'll be fine.
-
Highly doubtful. Having talented linemates is really really really important. Especially for a 20 year old like Grigorenko. All of your other points are absolutely right, he's not battling at the level he should be. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see Grigorenko giving more effort when he has linemates that can actually maintain possession of the puck and create offense. He's not a one man hockey factory like Zemgus, but not every player has to be.

Sabres player notes 2014-15 (callups, injuries, practice notes)

Maybe we should take this to the grigorenko thread. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/23145-grigorenko/page-2 -
Sabres player notes 2014-15 (callups, injuries, practice notes)
qwksndmonster replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I think a lost season is the perfect time to give Grigo skilled linemates for 10 games and a chance to "get it." That's what I'm blaming TN for. This season should be about developing the future, but all TN can seem to do is try to win with grinders for life. -
Britain faked the Zimmerman telegram so we would help them.

You are right about the 15 minutes TOI average. Yup. You'd think that after ruining his contract status and having him up with the big club way too early, that somewhere in the 55 Sabres games that he's dressed for we'd give him skilled wingers for just one of those games. Varone will always outshine Grigorenko and Hodgson in TN's eyes. That doesn't make him good, or even an NHLer. He will either be traded or on the Sabres roster, because he's subject to waivers next year. -

I wasn't watching too closely, but I seem to recall Grigs being demoted to the 4th line after 2 shits. He was with 12 and 82 while Varone was with 63 and 26. -
That was probably who he was forgetting,.

Sabres player notes 2014-15 (callups, injuries, practice notes)

Based on what? The few times this year that Nolan played him ~5 minutes a game with grinders? The nature of Grigorenko's game is that he won't be providing much value for this team unless we play him with skilled wingers. -
Except they're on the upswing. The Sabres were on a slow downswing for years.
