Well, let me restate it then. It's more of a conclusion based on his actions to date. I see no reason why it's hard to believe however, especially after he dumped the condo with no new long term living quarters in the area. That is a very telling sign right there. Not to mention, normally players such as Miller if there was a real chance of re-signing, don't get thrown into the trade equation. I.E. Murray stating they are all for sale is the price is right. There's the situation with making Buffalo a destination for players, retaining Miller I'd have to believe is paramount in order to make that happen (again by the way) and I don't see it happening with a full on "dump the vets and UFA's" policy they've switched to. Common sense would dictate he's outta here in my opinion.

I don't believe people think he can supplant Miller. I believe a majority of us don't look through rose colored glasses and see the writing on the wall. Miller is as good as gone. You don't sell your nearly 1 million dollar condo then wait till the last second to sign a contract with the team. He's gone man, outta here, hitting the road. It's reality, the sooner many except it, the sooner we can move along with the rebuild. Enroth can step in as the starter until the net minder situation is addressed down the road. Remember, we have another season to tank yet, so there is time for the likes of Ullmark and Makarov to develop a bit.

We could always take Halak in the Miller deal as a salary dump to St. Louis then flip him to Edmonton for..........whatever......

LOL, this thread just randomly pops up from time to time and I still get a chuckle out of the title......... I caught the Sabres fire sale video in another thread, buy one under-achiever (Stafford), get a second under-achiever (Leino) for free........ Man, this site does make my day. Oh, and Stafford needs to stay, so we can hit the Cap floor next season. Which brings me to my next point, wouldn't you all throw ######-fits if we re-sign him after his contract is up to reach the Cap floor then :P

I can only hope. I have to wonder if not getting Vanek re-signed by the dead line and him going to test the FA market would have a significant impact on their hopes in the McDavid sweepstakes.

From St. Louis, here is what I have information wise on 4 of their fowards that meet the criteria from some Blues fans: Dimitrij Jaskin, RW, 20 yrs old, Has already played a handful of games with the big club, projects to be Chris Stewarts replacement in the line up so say Blues fans, but he is a scoring winger as to where stewart is more of a power forward. Ty Rattie, 20 yrs old, LW, AHL affiliate, hasn't been with the big club but Blues fans I spoke with say he is a playmaker/sniper, shifty, 20+ goal guy is what they see in him. William Carrier, LW, 19 yrs old, still in juniors, some Blues fans say he have the same type of player in the Catenecci skill set. There is also Kurker, 19 yrs old, LW, still in juniors similiar situation to Carrier. Then there is Taresenko and Schwartz, both up with the big club, I cannot see us landing either of these guys. So, out of the 4 mentioned and with Stewarts UFA status I can see Stewart due to the cap situation if it is a multi player deal but the best bet is Ty Rattie in my opinion. Not that Jaskins couldn't be had, but it seems less likely as he's a RW'er and given our need at LW it seems to fit better. Anyways, that's what I have information wise, not sure if this helps.

Numark, I love that avatar man, kudos to you for that one.................. :flirt:

I'm printing this out and pinning it to my bed head board. I hope the wife makes the right choice because she's been a trooper this year :o She's helped ease a lot of my Sabres angst throughout this season. Barring injury I expect a full on run to the end of the season ;)

I believe Enroth is a bridge to Ullmark/Makarov. I'm not concerned about the net tending for next season, it's the following season where I'd like to see a plan being executed.
-
Yes please. How can we possibly get back into the top 3 to 5 after our 1st pick? That will be a challenge I don't think we can meet.
-
Morning all, I see Ryan is still a Sabre as of roughly 9am this morning. That's it, I'm done with this Murray character, why isn't Ty Rattie or Dimitrij Jaskin in the Sabres prospect pool yet.......... :P
-
I don't believe relying on Miller to stick around is the answer, and obviously Enroth needs the games to garner some experience. I don't believe Enroth has much to do about the future, just the bridge to the future.
-
Ok ok, lets try this one....... Miller + Ott + Luke Adam + Minny 2nd rd pick for Halak + Stewart + Rattie/Jaskin (one or the other, not both)
-
Yes, Allen would be the ideal return, but I also don't see that happening. However, Jaskin's interests me along with either Rattie, Taresenko or Schwartz. And unless this is an expanded deal outside of just moving Miller, I don't see that happening. I look to Paavarji+Halak+Jaskin. A couple of young wingers and a salary dump, but we may have to add on our end a bit more than we'd like to swallow, not sure though.
-
I don't believe Jaskin or Rattie are in the conversation unless we add, and most likely a forward prospect, most likely center since they have an abundance of winger prospects. I'm looking at Paajarvi (22 yrs old, most likely what Murray is looking for development/age wise), Kurker or Carrier (both are 19 and still in their junior system) as the likely 3. Just my opinion is all. All 3 are LW'ers.
-
Agreed. If it is the Blues in the end, what type of return for Miller are we looking at? I can't see them willing to part with Rattie or Schwartz and Taresenko wouldn't even be in the conversation for a UFA Miller. This is just my thoughts of course. Carrier and Kurker while taking back Halak for salary reasons and a 1st/2nd maybe? Don't know, any thoughts from anyone else specific to the St. Louis scenario?
-
Kevin Sylvester and Andrew Peters were talking about it just now on hockey hotline, specifically the Blues scenario, Edmonton was brought up and Kevin Sylvester whispered that was already attempted. I have to assume based on that gaffe that was heard online that Miller nixed going to Edmonton with his 8 team no trade list. Just an assumption on my part, but well within the realm of reason. St. Louis offers something alluring to Miller, a chance to contend for the Cup now. Take it with a grain of salt.........

Thank you Mr. Pegula, for all that you do. You hand out hope like it was candy to children. Continue on, we here in Western New York are fortunate to have an individual such as yourself that we can call team owner, neighbor, community leader through vision and to act upon those traits from your core. Thank you once again!

I think it's night and day when comparing Hodgson and Kassian. For one, Kassian is playing with immensely gifted offensive players in Vancouver from time to time. Their depth in that line up is decent. The second thing is the roles they both play, until we get Hodgson some consistent scoring wingers he's going to remain at the numbers he's putting out now roughly.

I take away 2 points from the trade perspective of that article. 1. TM implies Miller's destiny is in his own hands on whether or not he'd like to stay, but in the same paragraph he states that being fair to Miller and getting him into position for a Cup run he understands. TM spoke on trading for players not just picks. 2. The other UFA's in Buffalo don't expect to be here next season, but surely some will. We can speculate on where players will go and what we'd get in return, that's all good and fun. But after reading those comments, I expect the Sabres to be major players in the trade market up to and including deadline day. Did anyone else get this take on that article, or is it just me? -
No biggie man and I hear ya on paying attention. It seems as though these past 4 years I've been learning all kinds of details as I dive into the team as a whole. It shows that I'm emotionally vested in not just the sport, but the team particularly. And that says alot considering I was born the same year the team was. I remember the 80's with them quite well, back when I was 10 to 13/14 years old I kept files on each player and updated them each game with G, A, GAA's and so on. Not since then have I been so vested in the team as I am now.

Cool thanks, and dammit, I had hopes those 2 would be supporting cast players with the big club....... -

What's the story with Catenacci and Sundher Ink? Do they project as long term stays in Rochester to see if they develop the skills or are we looking at only a couple of seasons down there for them? Thanks for any input in advance.
