I think this is great. We dumped the cap dump of the trade. If you think he was under-performing this year, imagine that 3 years older. No thanks. This either opens up a spot to give a rochester prospect a shot or forces JBOT to go out and make a move to bring in more center depth, which i trust him to not ***** up. This makes the Sabres better in the not-too-distant future.

There is no chance that anyone is going to give him that money & term at his age considering his recent production. I understand why he would have had Buffalo on his No Trade list in the off-season, but this team is playoff bound this year and has, from what i've heard, great ownership. What a selfish player. Good riddance.

In my opinion, the GM was doing what was best for his team. Hockey is a business and that side can be ugly. If anyone is a piece of doodie it's clearly Bergland's agent for dropping the ball on submitting his no-trade list. Anyways, good riddance. When the ROR trade happened, his contract had me worried because of the length. Problem solved. This opens a spot for a kid to make an impression.

To the bold, what are you hoping for at the trade deadline? No team is going to willingly go out and try to acquire any of the frosty players on that list, we'd have to "pay" other teams to take them off our hands. I'm guessing this will be one of the quieter trade deadlines for us in recent years. We have nothing to sell but assets, and we should be using those picks.

We'll get to see if that's the case tonight. Also: yeesh for those cold streaks.

Don't quite understand the bottom 3 lines but I have to give HCPH some trust cause whatever he's doing is working. BUT. The 4th line of Girgs, Larsson & EROD has been effective, why break that up? The middle 6 worries me but I find solace knowing JBOT is still building, and we have 4 1st rounders in the next 2 years. I really hope Nylander or Olofsson can make the jump soon. If it were up to me I'd roll a youth line of Sheary - Mittelstadt - Thompson and a corpse line of Pominville - Sobotka - Okposo. Go Sabres! These divisional games are always important standings-wise. Don't let them gain any ground!

That's a tough question. Two weeks ago I would have gone the McDavid option but something has clicked with Jack recently and his play has reached a new level. I'll take Eichel & Dahlin (especially if in this scenario the Oilers would have gotten Dahlin & Eichel).

In his first 17 games Dahlin had 7 points, in his 2nd 17 he put up 12 points. He's only going to continue to put up more points as he gets comfortable and his confidence grows. I don't think it's unrealistic for him to break 50 points this season. If he breaks 50 points, is that enough to win the Calder? Depends on how Peterson keeps rolling but playing at his level at D is much tougher than putting up goals as a winger.
