The Ducks fights and Toughness was a red herring. They won because for all but maybe 5 minutes of game they had a Hall of Fame defenseman on the ice (Neidermayer or Pronger). They weren't paired together (except on special teams, which made for a pretty good PK), and they played almost 30 minutes of game time a piece. Think about that. They ALWAYS had a norris trophy winner on the ice.

This was the first thought i had when i got home from the movie theatre yesterday and saw the score. I finally hope you are right!!!! ;)
-
Our best hope against the Rags, imo, is the average age of their defensemen is 24. They're talented, but they are a bunch of kids. Ours, even with Myers and Sekera is 27.5

Story's like this make me numb. My brain says i should feel the right amount of empathy, but my heart tells me that I am not capable of conceiving the depth of this kind of tragedy. My boys are 7 months and 4 years. I have no ability to fathom what life would be like we lost our wife/mother. Tragic. I'm sure they will need the community more than ever.

Ennis/Gerbe = 52 Games missed Myers/Regehr = 29 Games missed The little duo misses approx 2x the time the big duo does!!! (you didn't say i couldn't cherry pick slightly irrelevant and misleading data ;))

When discussing the chances of anything happening in this thread, it is based on the charts only, a technical trade if you will. It's useful, but it can't be used exclusively because it ignores factors that can't be captured by the season standings ebb and flow. Injuries are a perfect example. Losing Henrik would be a paradigm shift for NY, but it wouldn't present itself in the charts. So, it's a useful tool, like a screwdriver, but using it alone would be like trying to build a shed with just a screwdriver.

Me either.

Will Sulzer qualify for waiver exemption under the 80-40 rule? he played 40 games in 10-11 and will only play 29 games this season.
-
In Ghost's Defense, he was talking about Khloe: The "bigger" one.

My idea right now: 1a Vanek Roy LeCaptain 1b Folignisford 2 Leino Hodgson NewWinger (trade at draft) 4/3 McCormick/Tropp Goose Kaleta (Ellis) Myers-Regher Ehrhoff-Leopold Sekera-Weber (McNabb) Miller(good version) Enroth This is predicated on Roy and Leino redeeming themselves with strong play in the 2nd round and ECF, and Goose signing at 4 years $10-$11M.

we can all agree it should be illegal to microwave fish at work.

Pommer could play with Steven Hawking at center and Verne Troyer on left wing and still would lead the team in scoring.

Spectacular! !

But Football isn't played on paper, it's played inside TV sets.

The Coyotes' Owner is gonna be pissed if Shanny suspends one of his top forwards in the middle of a close playoff chase. That could end up costing him some significant dollars if the wind up missing out on a couple playoff home games as a result.

Interesting, this blows my whole injury is all that matters theory. I'll have to rethink.
-
Traditionally the interpretation has been lift-off prior to contact. On the hit in question, I think it was charging based on the distance traveled prior to the hit. Which is the primary consideration in the next paragraph of the rule. I don't think it was a "jump into" hit. More of a "jump through" hit.
-
I think a big reason Manning Chose the Broncos was, after committing to the AFC, the West is the easiest place to get into the playoffs. Denver is almost a lock out their.
-
But what if they make God sad? What then?
-
By the current rules, jumping into the hit is fine, as long as one foot is still on the ice at the moment of contact. They way i see the video, especially @ 0:45, hes skates are on the ice and the two players are touching.
-
I don't see that in the video. The angle at 0:22 shows contact before his skates leave the ice. Charging with intent, yes, thus the 5 minute major. But the charging is related to the wind-up, not lift off. Shows even better with the angle at 0:45
