  1. Yeah, Turns out trying to land a new job while constantly leaving the country for your current job is a very time consuming process, I have (apparently fortunately) missed most of the games over the past 2 months and really didn't have much time to post. But now that I've lost all motivation to accomplish anything for my current employer, I should be able to partake in the conversation a bit more.
  2. 2 Weeks from today, I will again be a resident of Western NY. My decade long self-imposed Midwestern exile will come to an end. F'N Fantastic.
  3. I have a buddy who trades on an ETF fund based off the Chicago Board's VIX indicator, which measures the perceived volatility in the us market. He built a model based of the funds movements relative to the s&p movement rate. Basically he's built a technical trading model on the volatility of the volatility of the US markets.
  4. I forgot about this. Since they crossed state lines heading to the bowl game, it's a federal case. Federal prosecutors won't be influenced by anything PSU has to offer. They're appointed, and they have ridiculously high conviction rates.
  5. I'm more worried about Benson being on the board of the Charity. I think that is the connection GoDD was trying to emphasize, but it got lost in his Hearstian writing style.
  6. As of 5 minutes ago, I own my car free and clear. F'n Fantastic! :D
  7. It's not about punishment. It's about completely starting over to reset the values, which clearly had gone astray over the last decade. That's why I think the board should shut it down themselves, not to self castigate, but to begin fresh and rebuild.
  8. I think the link is a totally reasonable question to ask. Why not, everyone else seemed to know... I think he's blurring the separation between Benson and Pegula a bit, but his point that this needs to be looked into is absolutely correct. I'm not convinced he (Benson) didn't know, and I think it's plausible that Pegula knew of the investigation as well. This is not to say either knew of the specific charges, or the cover-up, but they could have. We're just at the tip of this one.
  9. Everything we know (and everything you've written regarding Ruff/Regier and Pegula) indicates that this is the MOST LIKELY scenario. He donated the money because he figured "Penn State Athletics Ain't Goin' Nowhere..." In addition, in the world of high profile college endowments and donations. Earmarked Donations typically mean the money doesn't actually change hands when the commemorative over-sized check is presented. The money is either placed in escrow for the project, or more typically, the college will build the dorm/library/dungeon out of the general endowment's liquid assets and the donor's accountants will reimburse as expenses are incurred. Beyond that, rerouting earmarked donation money would be a poison pill for any university. They'll drain the general endowment fund before they try to pull a fast one on any of their major donors.
  10. I was just up your way interviewing for an engineering job :( :bag:
  11. These are good words to describe my thoughts. Dateline: Ottawa, February 22nd - 24th, 2007 Sabres deal in multi-game retribution for a BS hit on one of their stars...
  12. No. It would be libel, it's written. And he hasn't accused anyone of anything. He's stated that they are involved in the investigation, because they are involved in the investigation.
  13. The only guy on the team with any balls is Brazilian. What happened last night is not a "sign of trouble" it, in and of itself, is an embarrassment. I don't think you need to read anything into what it means for the future (although you could). It was embarrassing. Call in shows are all the same. Buffalo sports fans are, indeed, mentally unstable. I think it is easy to understand how they got that way.
  14. What ever happened to "Go out and run 'em"? Both my favorite teams embarrassed me last night. Notre Dame with those helmets, and the Sabres for not having to worry about manslaughter charges this morning. I was actually so angry that no one stepped up was was throwing things around the room. I don't even care about the loss. You can always win the next game. This team will never get that pride back. In fact, I think "team" is the problem here. These guys aren't all in yet. If they were, Lucic wouldn't have been able to step on the ice without getting run, and Rask would have been in in the second to protect Thomas. :censored:
  15. If internet forums aren't the place for conspiracy theories anymore... then the terrorists have won.
  16. What is your prediction, Benson thrown out? or do you think the odds are good that Pegula himself takes a hit on this one? Or are the odds in favor of a "no harm no foul" result for the Sabres people attached to this university?
  17. He's making the point, correctly, that while you may not want to paint the entire university with the same brush, the actions of a few will inevitably have effects on the entire university. The potential credit downgrade is an example of that.
  18. On F'N Fantastic Friday, it's a sure thing. :w00t:
  19. I have a confirmed final interview on Wednesday for a job that would let me move back to Upstate! Finger Lakes region. Job is right in my wheel house. My Uncle works in another part of the plant. My wife's work said they will transfer her to their store in Rochester. One last hurdle to jump, then after a decade long exile, I might get to return HOME! My excitement is getting the better of me, and if I don't get this job, I'll have a nice long profanity laced post for next Thursday.
  20. Dear Child Rape Victims that never would have had to endure this tragedy had Joe Paterno done small little things, like call the police to report a rape, We know you're probably a bit of a mess right now, and we feel really bad for you. Especially since, had anyone one grown up at our university done the right thing in 1998 or 2002, you would still be a happy go lucky kid, innocent to the core. We're gonna get rid of the people who failed to protect you, we promise. It's just that... Some of them are pretty popular. I mean there are people who actually believe that if Penn State stops playing football, they'll get fewer research grants (I know, crazy, right?) Anyway, we're gonna let ole JoePa have a swan song here on saturday, (and then in the B10 Championship game) (and then hopefully in the rosebowl) When you see all those hoards of people cheering him on, I want to assure you, they're cheering him on because they're zombies, not because he enabled one of his longest tenured assistants access to our facilities so he could rape you there. Please don't feel to bad. The way we look at it, your damage is already done, why add Penn State Football fans to the list of innocent victims like yourself. Sincerely, Penn State :death:
