This i like... I wonder if this was on the list of things the Union wanted (all suspensions are bad for the union) and the League is planning on giving it to them as part of the bargain.

Can he be the spleen, or the gall bladder? I worry when he's the spine. I'd even settle for the medulla oblongata.

The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?
LastPommerFan replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Sully, There was no reason in the world to believe he was going to be as bad this year as he was. He finished off last season strong. Once they started the season with him, and there was no incentive to demote him to save cap space. I don't think this shows a misuse by the coach nor a deficiency in management. This shows a big swing to try and make the team better, and a miss (except in the Shootout, Dude was a f'n wizard). I want them to take big swings. Grigorenko is a perfect example. -
You would have had better luck with Skype.

That makes sense, If Andrew Peters scores a goal against you, you are probably a terrible team. He makes great radio. did we have to use the exact same words?
-
Thanks, like I said, unscientific. Still a better points percentage than the non-fight games during that time frame. So my point stands. We've been saying for years that the sabres would be better if they had bigger peters... :w00t:

The only reasonable trades would be for Crosby or Datsyuk, and I don't see either moving :)

You're right, it wasn't 4, it was twice that! he improved by 8 goals last season!!! :P

A) A 15% drop in goals does not show consistency. B) Unscientific Stat Analysis: 07-08 games in which Peters Fought: 8-3-2 (69% pts percentage) Games he didn't fight: 31-28-10 (52%) 08-09 games in which Peters Fought: 5-2-2 (67% pts percentage) Games he didn't fight: 36-30-7 (54%) Looks like it has an effect. But if your point is that it's not surefire, then you are absolutely correct. But there is a reason guys continue to start fights to "spark the team", sometimes, it works.

The Concept of Lucic will be tested this year. I'll bet he doesn't score 20 goals. He had one great season and one almost great season, He had a career year on a team that drew the focus elsewhere. People are on to him, I expect his scoring to continue to slide. This can't be the end. This type of toughness is a regular season, slump busting type of energy, you lose a few in a row, maybe throw scott in to break some heads and change the teams energy. This type of toughness will not help you in the playoffs.

Interesting piece of the Current CBA: National Teams have to buy a policy to cover the remaining value of the player's contract.

Parise with a $6M cap hit! Details: Max Salary for next season is $14.04M per year (combined Salary and bonuses) so: 2012: $13.45M signing Bonus, $550k Salary 2013: $13M, 1M 2014: $14M 2015: $7M 2016: $4M 2017-2022: $3M 2023: $1M He gets $13.45Million immediately before his contract gets reduced by the new CBA, he gets fully 37.5% of his money in the first 12 Months (Bonuses pay on July 1st), and the Sabres get a cap hit of $6M. I think this could be our advantage. Pegs can definitely offer to give him max money prior to the inevitable CBA rollback. This will be attractive to 100 out of every 100 agents working in sports representation today.

If he were to suffer a career ending injury next year, he wouldn't count against the cap, but he would still get paid every dime of the $104.4M. Guaranteed Contracts for the Win. Because any reduction in the salary cap would be accompanied by a equal reduction in every player's salary. This keeps the % of cap each player takes up the same before and after. So we can work to 70.2, then after the CBA, each salary will just be rolled back to whatever number. So every team will still be under the cap.
-
It's a pretty big drop off after that though. It's those 2, 3 guys at $5M and then no one else on the team is above $3.75M. The Sabres, For instance, have 9 players at $4M or higher.

136 days on the market, still no offers on my house. Temporary living assistance runs out next month, so from there forward it's paying rent and mortgage for me. So much for buying hockey tickets now that I live back in Upstate NY... :wallbash:
