  1. My understanding is that a fully firm spinal fusion offers no ongoing risks. Am I wrong on this?
  2. Tim Thomas vs. Roberto Luongo? The Sabres Routinely out-draw for their market size. While he isn't half the goalie the Dominator was, Ryan Miller is more of a household name in the US among non-hockey fans than Hasek ever was. The question was would winni outdraw the Sabres in the playoffs. They answer, imo, is an emphatic NO.
  3. The most watched Stanley cup finals game 1 in history was Buffalo-Dallas in 1999 (15% higher than last years BOS-VAN game 1). I don't think it was the Texas Influence that drove that number. Sabres aren't NYR, TOR, or LA, but they sell eyeballs.
  4. I only saw it live and the in game replays on the Carolina feed. So I haven't taken a closer look. Absolutely agree with the bold. The hip check is a glorious technique.
  5. Man, if Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, Fitzpatrick, Jackson, Merriman, the wide receivers, and the offensive line can all stay healthy, I expect significantly better results than last year. Last year's team was really derailed by some key injuries. Wait. That argument does work here...
  6. no conceivable reason to want Winnipeg in the playoffs. Won't affect ticket sales in winni either way, will only serve to submarine TV ratings. On the hit in question, he left his feet, imo, after contact was initiated, and he made full body contact, not primarily head contact. It was certainly charging (skated a good 20 feet into the check), but I don't think it was suspension worthy, as much as I'd like it to be. Also, no injury, which apparently is all that matters anymore.
  7. He had 9 seasons with more points 7 with more goals. He was picked as one of the 6 best defensemen in his conference 7 times after his rookie season. I don't remember him as a Sabre, but why is there the "he never lived up to his potential" attitude toward him?
  8. The bar isn't that high thus far... ;)
  9. And the Redskins, they seem to be able to spend whatever they want, get their cap reduced as punishment, and still spend whatever they want.
  10. If you believe the winner of the trade is the team that got the best player, so far we're winning, we got Sulzer.
  11. I honestly think that i'd fire him for that. Way to alienate your own fans.
  12. Torn Pectoral, and he had a hernia the year before. I worry that his muscle tissue has an ongoing issue.
  13. I hope they get him for the message it would send, but I have one concern. We'd have a D-Line where 2/3 of the players each missed more than 2/3 of last season. Is no one concerned about these injuries?
  14. I catch most of them, I usually feel like a creep when I respond. I agree, most people fall between the twin characters we have created here. But that is the beauty of the "teams"! they are caricatures of thoughts and emotions that we can insert into various situations with sometimes informative, sometimes hilarious results. They are classic Greek characters of light and dark brought into a hockey discussion board. I love it.
  15. You can be on Team Wet Blanket.
  16. I think everyone is in agreement that adding a player that is sub-6' and below 180lbs is a good idea.
