Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?
CallawaySabres replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
So Josh Norris will be our #1/#2 center next year? I assume Γstlund will be in Rochester, and then the other bolded players below will be replaced? Maybe Krebs has a spot, which is fine, but the hope will be have to be in the form of UPGRADES on the others bolded, especially the 2 Dmen. The big question will be goaltending because you know they are going to roll UPL out again. That would be 4-5 new players, none of which are in the top 6. Are people fine with just upgrades on the bottom 6 and D? I still think there HAS to be a a big move for one player on the top 6. Zach Benson -- Jiri Kulich -- Tage Thompson JJ Peterka -- Ryan McLeod -- Jack Quinn Jason Zucker -- Peyton Krebs -- Alex Tuch Beck Malenstyn β Noah Γstlund -- Sam Lafferty Mattias Samuelsson -- Rasmus Dahlin Owen Power -- Jacob Bernard-Docker Bowen Byram -- Connor Clifton Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen James Reimer -

UPL π€£ -
They traded away their top talent at the deadline, along with many other moves, dropped like a stone after realizing a miraculous run to 8th was not worth it (and probably was not going to happen.) I don't see how that is luck, it's an organization pulling the plug at the exact right time.

Bruins make playoffs for 100 years in a row, tank for one year and will draft their future #1 center. must be nice to have a an organization that operates like a well oiled machine.

Will Devon Levi Help Make This Team Better Next Year?
CallawaySabres replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I am not expecting Levi to even be on the big club next year. Maybe he gets a few games here and there but if they are relying on him as the starter, it's gonna be 16 years of no playoffs, or whatever the number is. -
Just add one more absolutely AWFUL contract to Adams failures. 4 more years at 4,750,000 per year. I don't even want this guy as a backup, so how in the world can they trade him? Are they allowed to pay him that to play in Rochester? I am guessing that Levi is the starter in Rochester next year in hopes that he can make the team eventually. Ideally, they trade for a true #1 and have Reimer/Levi as a backup. I don't see anything on the free agent list so there absolutely HAS to be a trade for a true #1. Buffalo has the prospects and draft position to make this happen. What team has a legit #1 that is still a couple years away from making the playoffs?
-
Trade a top prospect, and your first rounder this year for a # 1 goalie on a team that is still a couple years away. How in the world can someone be a GM of an NHL team and not realize you HAVE to have good goaltending to even have a chance at competing. GO GET A FREAKING GOALIE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Total Irrelevance of the Buffalo Sabres
CallawaySabres replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
I suppose threads like this work for me to voice how far the organization has fallen and that it is hard to believe that such a thing could ever happen to a fanbase as rabid as Buffalo is. I don't see an end in sight and maybe part of my hope is for someone who matters in the organization to catch wind of how deep the rot has travelled throughout the fanbase. If this is Phoenix Arizona, that 's one thing, but to have an organization wither into nothing in a market like Buffalo? Pegula has stolen joy for 14 years and crushed a lot of great moments that could have been with kids who are now going off to college without ever see what an incredible experience a hockey game could be like in Buffalo. I'm sorry, but the whole thing sucks. -

I guess what I am getting at is that at least Eichel gave me a reason to see something special each and every night. This team, eh. -
The Total Irrelevance of the Buffalo Sabres
CallawaySabres replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
Compared to what the hype was when he was drafted, he is nowhere near it (in my opinion). He is a top 10 defenseman for sure, but once again, it seems like he still has not reached that potential. -
I think we all know by now that Buffalo is consistently one of the worst teams in the NHL every single year. That alone will never get any headlines around the league. What I do find surprising is that there is not even a player on the team that is ever mentioned in the news either. Usually, on the worst teams in the NHL, there is at least a rising superstar that gains momentum as the team improves. I think the tough part for fans is that there is no hope in the team overall, there is no highlight reel player to get you to watch, and there is absolutely ZERO identity to the team overall. I can't ever remember a Sabres team that was void in all 3 areas. This, to me, is why I see no hope in next year as well.

When games matter and they are not 20 points out of a playoff spot, we see how Buffalo plays. The unfortunate thing is that we still have no idea what the actual potential of this team would be if they ever had to win a game that mattered. We still have to wait a whole year And hope they can get somewhere near eight in 2026
