  1. Probably, this isn't going anywhere it's a new virus that we'll deal with, no biggie there.... Just getting over the hump now.
  2. I'll trade houses.... Along with the mortgage payments 😁
  3. Where I work they replaced all the lights with traffic circles, no idea why. Where I live, I need a snowmobile to get home
  4. I was being sarcastic, poorly so. We have a bunch of traffic circles in town and I swear that no one knows how to properly use them.
  5. You shouldn't be allowed to enter a traffic circle if your IQ is less than 50
  6. This is a form of social media 😎, about the only one I have. My life has gotten significantly better since deleting any other accounts I had back in March. I use What's app to talk to my kiddos in Africa, and then I spend wayyyy too much time on here 😜
  7. That explains why some of them were so Onry, I think the one tried eating my hand 😂
  8. Sure, it's a guard over the face, much like a sneeze guard at a salad bar helps, but maybe that spare boogie makes it in to the mashed potatoes 😁 I've never refuted masks, they help, they're easy, but they're not a total solution. So many people in my circle have said that if we all wore masks since day 1 then this would be over by now, I just can't get there. Hell, I even agreed with keeping big gatherings down, concerts, etc. Much like Sweden still did. I am having a hard time with all the other little things that are simply window dressing. 8 months in, it seems longer.....here's hoping with fingers and toes crossed that by summer we can start getting back towards a more normal life.
  9. The increasing psych that I'm seeing specifically in practice are relating to the socio/socioeconomic ramifications of this all. Many parents can't handle dealing with childcare/work/economic issues, especially with schools not having students and parents having to put in so much extra. The pediatric psych cases have grown exponentially from my own little hospital alone, the separation of growing children, lack of social circles, etc; these are very very difficult during adolescence. Dementia is typically genetic, alcohol and drug use and some other disease processes can cause it, prolonged metabolic encephalopathy can cause the brain to essentially not work as well. Prolonged psychiatric issues can also lead to memory loss; I may be unaware, but I'm not sure of any of the coronavirus/influenza or other similar viral families causing early dementia. With your last point, Covid is 100% affecting those with mental health issues, but it's the Covid response and surrounding issues that are impacting these people; to this point we're still very very split on it as a country, very sad to see. I empathize with those that are affected
  10. Enjoying the warm air and the beautiful Scenery, while the world worries about crap, I'll keep living until I die.
  11. Ummm no, that's hogwash. Most of the mental illness cases are here and now, an inordinate increase in cases as well as mental health inpatient visits and suicide attempts and completions.... All thanks to Covid. This is especially concerning to me in pediatric cases that have reached a paramount number in recent months. Maybe these people are being singled out by the lunatics who are so Covid crazy they need mental help because they had the virus. Talk about a serious divide in the country.
  12. Good to see, thanks for this. I know in the hospital we're getting 3M masks I believe, but sadly many of the others I see floating are not of this quality Am I not on your ignore yet man, you really should just do it.
  13. Again, the virus is 30 microns in diameter, an N95 has 95 microns of space between weaves. 3 viruses could hold hands and walk right through that mask. This whole N95 thing is blown out of proportion, it's better than what else is out there, but still not as secure as the prevailing thought. On top of that, I'm seeing cheaply made KN95 masks from China everywhere, and just by looking at them, you can tell its false advertising. Many of the nurses at the hospital that have Covid currently, wore an N95 all day every day.
  14. Buffalonians raised over 34k for Oshei hospital after hearing about the loss of Allen's Grandmother, they started a 17$ donation button and reached that overnight. Pretty awesome!
  15. The virus should be attenuated, basically inactivated, so the body is responding to the shell of the virus to invoke a response without the virus being able to replicate. Vaccines basically alert the body that there is an intruder, the body sends in the forces (usually why you feel a little crappy after the flu shot) and the body then stores that to memory, typically T cell mediation, this allows the body to be immune to future infections with an active virus. For how long is unknown, maybe each year, and most probable with this family of viruses. The biggest concern would be future mutations to the Sars-cov-2 that would render the vaccination much less effective, and that's anyone's guess.
  16. I suppose "they" would end up being owners of businesses, those in charge of schools/hospitals/public sector jobs. Legally every year I Must have a flu shot, the only way around is a declination form signed off, if I don't get it, I can easily lose my position and privileges at said hospital. As noted upthread, schools can add that to the required immunizations and bam, it's done. A business owner could require his/her employees to maintain their job.... The list goes on, it may not be a universal blanket like an executive order, but subsquentially it could end at that point.
  17. Most vaccines are "usually" pretty decent, save for some allergic reactions and some local irritation, the occasional case of Guillane Barre/Transverse Myelitis. This isn't going to be like most vaccines, a coronavirus vaccine that is rushed, I'm sure it will have some drawbacks initially, it's a mRNA(messenger RNA) vaccine which can be manufactured a bit quicker in a lab, but I need to look into it more. It probably won't be crazy unsafe, but it may not actually work as well as many would hope. Time will tell.
  18. Idk if I'd call it distinct, I've chatted with many colleges around the globe and it's pretty evenly split 50/50 in my social circle. I've been getting backlash since March 8th, I don't mind really. My thoughts on this are well documented and I've previously put up some numbers in the past supporting my stance, obviously taken with a grain of salt, much like the other numbers we're seeing. Fact is at the end of the day, I save upwards of what, 50 lives a week, Covid or noncovid, I haven't knowingly got anyone sick, I stayed home when I had pneumonia last week,I follow guidelines even if I believe they're more fluff than substance. So my words are simply that, thoughts and opinion that are relatively harmless. It wouldn't hurt to think about this thing from both sides for a second.
  19. Question, can they force the vaccination on everyone? You know law, so that's why I ask. Private employers such as mine have the right to make me get one, just like the flu vaccine. I'm by no means an anti-vaxxer, quite the opposite, but I fear that this could get ugly soon if there is vaccination by force looming? I'm a lover, not a fighter
  20. News flash, a majority of health care professionals share an opinion similar to mine. Not all, but more than one would think. It doesn't mean that I don't follow protocols, I don't do reckless things, I wear my mask, I take all precautions with my patients, etc etc. I'm not loving it. But it's an opinion and this is a Covid thread on the internet, venting is allowed. Last time I checked not everyone agrees on everything. I still think our response is poor and not based entirely in true science, which should be all that matters. Most of the nay sayers to my thoughts on this haven't worked in the medical or even scientific sector at all, it changes perspective
  21. I was told JA lost his grandmother yesterday, he played inspired today, something tells me those 2 aren't unrelated.
  22. What happened, I'm in NYC having dinner on Mulberry, just checked the score, 41 points?!?! Terrible game to miss!
