I expect there is 0 chance of leadership change if we miss the playoffs as well. But *I* have very limited circumstances where failure to make the playoffs this season is excusable at all. We are at a point where the core is now identified and developed, we have good support pieces, and a fully stocked cupboard. The holes that need to be filled are obvious to all. If you are at the point where the holes are few and obvious, the solutions attainable, and you have excess assets…….. the runway should be very short.

Not couldn’t. Didn’t. As you’ve stated above, the price was too steep, he’s valuing his prospects to high, he didn’t get value. Not making the playoffs this season should be a fireable offense. Full stop.

Yeah, I’ve heard enough about that 2nd shot that I’ve been putting it off. I had shingles in my right eye, gotta be 10yrs ago now. I should know better than to put it off. Shingles seriously sucks.

OT: Employment Interviews in the post covid 2020's

If you saw the costs, then you know that “someone can get through college without loans if they try hard enough” is very far from a universal truth. -

There are only a handful of part time PA programs nation-wide, so if she continues down that path, I’m guessing you are going to know someone very soon who is up to their eyeballs in college debt. -

Your daughter is working her way through a pre-med program? Interesting. What kind of work is she doing while attending school part time? -

My son’s fiance went the pre-med route and ended up detouring after about $120k in school loans. Extremely smart girl (no idea what she’s doing hanging around the likes of my kin). She’s still well on a path to a good lifestyle, but man, the specter of being that far in debt for school loans at a young age has put some serious stress in their lives. -

You must only know boomers and gen Xers with degrees then. It has been a different world for almost 20 years now. I worked a barely over minimum wage job to pay for my first degree……. In 1985. Got my next 2 part time while working a decent, but not great job, paid for a house, started a family. 25yrs later my son attempted the same, except had a job that paid $6/hr over minimum wage. And he had to take out loans to finish at a community college. In high school he worked a farm and banked the money. It’s not enough anymore. Assuming it is still possible to work your way through college and not take out loans is being very unaware of reality today. -

He was guarded at first. I’m sure he’s been hounded his share of times. Fortunately I am an introvert so he didn’t get the sense he was going to be hounded. -
A dead puck era game plan and decent goaltending. I could see them as buyers at the deadline.

I’ve had public encounters with Rob Ray, Jim Lorentz, Larry Playfair, Dave Andrechuck, John Tucker, probably a couple of others, but never initiated a conversation beyond “hey, “player”. September 2010 I was at the clubhouse for The Links at Ivy Ridge for lunch after a round of golf and Rick Martin walked in with his foursome. He sat next to me at the bar. We had a pretty good conversation about the state of the Sabres. He was quite vocal in his disapproval of the state and direction of the team. He was very personable. It was a genuine thrill on my part to be talking to a boyhood hero. I was floored when he died the following Spring. -

I’ve been through a few job searches over the last decade. I am now on the backside of my 50’s. My most recent search was about 18mo ago. I have never had an employer even tangentially suggest age related concerns. That is a serious legal line those employers are crossing. And Inky, I’ve done my share of interviewing as well. I would never even consider putting approximate age in my interview notes. That could go sideways on you at some point. -
Bergeron was part of an amazing run of playoff relevance. A rookie in 03-04 for the divison’s first place team. Back in the playoffs in 06-07. And then only missed in 14-15 and 15-16 playoffs. If I counted correctly that is 14 playoff seasons. Just wow. Michal freaking Grosek was a Bruin during Bergeron’s rookie season. And Jeff Jilson lol. Bergeron saw Buffalos’s rise, their fall from grace, and the following decade of darkness. Man, what a nice run.

I don’t wanna revisit my grudges.

Fresh rapid rise yeasts. Don’t use a packet that’s been in your refrigerator for 4 months. And overnight ferments. Learn how to use a poolish and biga. They are essentially overnight rise dough starters. And work wonders for flavor development. If you are really interested in how to make bread like a pro, find the book A Bread Baker’s Apprentice.

A very close friend of mine got into some serious hot water with his wife when he commented on how it is damned near impossible to improve on a box cake when cooking at home……. while he was eating a scratch made cake his wife had made that day. I don’t let him live that down. Hopefully she has.

Meh. Taking shots at Buffalo fans is your thing. Always has been. It’s the direction more than the description. -
Now we have nothing to argue about. Lol

Awful hockey name. Doesn’t stand a chance.

I’m not dissing it necessarily. I can see the motivation. Really good dough requires someone who really knows what they are doing. Especially in this era, with a general shortage of workers, let alone skilled, knowledgeable workers, and wage pressures, switching to a consistent, reliable product, pre-dosed and ready to go is probably a good business decision. I am sure the consistency is hard to beat. And it is likely more consistently profitable as well. I am also sure you’ll never make a memorable pie that way. ETA- for the record I’ve always got a couple bags of Al Cohen’s frozen pizza dough from Tops in my freezer. No shame here using it when I haven’t thought ahead to make my own dough.
