Quite remarkable the Sabres have promoted so many young players to the NHL including Benson, this years #1 pick and STILL have the best prospect pool. Literally sitting on an almost embarrassing amount of prospect riches at this point.

Wouldn't have been 13 years if Murray had been a little more patient and not traded all the prospects and picks for players that left the cupboard bare when it didn't work out. He set us back 5 years at least.

Have you not learned the lesson that you can’t have a team full of kids?  Murray did the right thing, but he chose ***** players for the plan.

I guess I get that people want every first overall pick to be McDavid ... or even Dahlin, but I really don't get the hate toward Power. He is good. He likely will be very good soon (assuming one does not think he is already) ... The Fox comparison numbers are great, @dudacek - and he is 26, while Mr. Number One Flow and person of @inkman's dreams is still just 22! I love Dahlin, but his 2nd year in the league and his age 21/22 season are not that much better than Power's.

The hate is really minimal.  Folks can’t criticize without being labeled a hater.  SMH

My only complaint is that he really works to avoid contact.  Before anyone responds with something, something, Pronger, something.  The vast majority of us mentioning his avoidance of contact are not expecting a banger.  It’s simply that, were he to use his physical frame to wedge and trap guys along the boards or box out forwards in the front of the net, his play would improve even more. It’s such an obvious gap in his game.

4 goals and 2 assists over the same period of time for Skinner.  Not good at all, for sure someone in the category of not 'stepping up' when the team needed him. But Skinner's 4 goals in 18 games over that time (18 goal pace, 1.16 goals per 60) is actually a LOT more productive than Cozens ((5 goal pace, 0.26 goals per 60) or Krebs (5 goal pace, 0.30 goals per 60).

Either way, take that moment (March 3) where they were in the best position all year as far as making the playoffs (other than the start of the season), playing their very best all year....where the next month was going to be the most critical month of upcoming games for this team wanting to make the playoffs (again, since the beginning of the year), and Thompson, Tuch, Peterka, Dahlin....they really stepped up and produced in that critical stretch.    Skinner did not, but Krebs and Cousins REALLY did not. 1 goal in 18 games, hardly any assists, being overall minus player....they basically disappeared when the team need players to step up.

Hmmm…… really young guys wilting under pressure.  Whoda thunk?

For decades it's been a universal truth:  When the Sabres skate hard and don't give up on the puck, they succeed.  When they don't they fail.  We've seen examples of it even this season, but not consistently enough to win... consistently.

I think it was time for Lindy to go the first time around, but I think he could up the Sabres game with the current roster.

We had fragile children with Lindy.  No coach puts this team in the playoffs without a few veteran additions.

Hockey fan here but I’m not a hockey historian.  Has any team won in the free agent era (or last 20-25 years) by building via the draft?  Doesn’t seem like a good game plan when you’re drafting teenagers.  As we’ve seen, the top tier competitive talent will want out before the newbies are ready to contribute at the NHL level.

Also since sports are driven by a “win now” philosophy (as demonstrated by coaching turnover) it would appear to devalue your prospect pool as how many GM’s want to wait 3-4 years for a guy to develop?

Every team wins or looses through their drafting efforts.  Every team but Buffalo has recognized that it is important to have a solid base of good veterans to guide their young players.

So let me get this straight. I am supposed to believe a pretty smart guy like Pegula sees how successful the Bills have been when he isn't interfering but yet ignores that and tries to interfere every chance he gets with the Sabres?

Is that what I am supposed to believe based on your opinions?

I find that stretches the bounds of believability and credibility.

It’s not smarts to realize that you are the problem.  It is self awareness.  And most folks don’t have it sufficiently enough to recognize when they are the problem.

Do we take any solace watching the Flyers meltdown? That big Russian goalie is horrible. Talk about a free fall.

    No solace whatsoever.

Hey, at least we’re not the Flyers?  Is there any room whatsoever for that mindset?  I don’t see any.
