Some said they were I unwilling to go LT with Sam at the time due to their implemented Covid budget restraints

Given the glacial pace of team building, I have to consider if KA didn’t think Sam fit the timeline.

What?  How is it anything but good news that an injured player is back?  It’s good for the player to be back and playing. It’s good for the team to get a talented player back in the lineup.

Would I have liked him back when the games were still meaningful? Sure, but that does change the fact that it is good news that he’s back.

Neutral in the confines of a successful season.

It thinned out because MTA police shut down the bridge right before the ship struck the support. No doubt saving many lives. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough time to warn construction workers that were on the bridge.

I hadn’t heard the detail re: construction workers.  Awful.

I would not want to be a Pittsburgh fan right now:

-Didn't make the playoffs last year.  Not making it this year, and this year they are sliding worse than last year.

-Your best players all getting really old. By the start of next season (or during it), Crosby turns 37, Malkin 38, Karlsson 34, Letang 37, Smith 33.

They have one guy on their roster under 30 who has double digit goals Drew O'Connor, an undrafted 25 year old with 10 goals this year  and a total for 18 in his entire career.

-Their pipeline is empty. From what I can tell then have 2 middle-first round picks and one goalie, thats about it...and their top prospect is no better than any of the top 6-7 the Sabres have.  Oh, and they have no first round pick this year either.

ALL of their top guys are signed for multi year deals. Like really bad looking deals for how old they are. Yet, they are probably just good enough to keep the Penguins out of the cellar next year and away from a top lotter pick.

I wouldn’t trade what Buffalo has for what they have at all given the incredible highs that fanbase has seen.  That team has earned a fanbase that is happy to watch them slowly walk into the sunset.

I don't know it's the right place to see a total eclipse of the sun......but it's definitely the right place to see the total eclipse of playoff hockey.

I never had a problem with discussing former Sabres. I actually like the discussion.

Whenever a trade occurs (and most of us LIKE trades as a talking point), it certainly is fun to talk about 'what could have been' if that guy was still here, or to evaluate what you got for that player.  Also, we talk about a lot of other players around the league some...and guys who used to be here, well, most of us know more about them than most other players..so yeah....easy to talk about them.

I get that.  Its the woe is us and sour grapes I am referring to, and the “we can’t trade X because he might be awesome and we’ll get laughed at some more” that is so often on display.

The Sabres are a train wreck.  They were a train wreck when Sam was drafted, a train wreck while he grew and developed, and a train wreck after he was moved.  Sam and his ilk are neither the cause of, nor the the fix for what ails the Sabres. They are ghosts of the past that aren’t relevant to Buffalo and its current futility. Lamenting what Sam is doing today is self flagellation.

    From astronomy.com...

One of the more intriguing aspects of the satellite cloud measurements is the presence of fewer clouds along the south shore of Lakes Erie and Ontario. This reduction — as much as 15 percent — is due to the influence of the lakes, which suppress the formation of convective clouds along their south shores when cold winds blow from the north. Clouds form when the ground is warmed, but the air must travel a short distance inland before the warming takes hold. The effect is quite limited, as the map shows, and so eclipse watchers should also watch the weather and head for the lakes’ shores if that cold flow is forecast. This pattern greatly favors Cleveland, and Buffalo and Rochester, New York, as eclipse-viewing sites....

Yup, lake shadow/ lake breeze line.

Better chance of clear skies near the lake? Is this a thing?

The lake breeze line or lake shadow is a thing.  It creates localized weather.  Essentially, moist air off the lakes converge with dry air over land and convection can form.  It is a secondary weather generator.  I’d avoid areas where this convergence occurs if the weather is conducive to lake breeze weather patterns setting up.

Ive already gone past my Holiday Inn staying limits so you should get more info from someone smarter than me.  I bet the NWS website will have viewing forecasts as it gets closer.

Honestly what's the point? The downside we keep everyone

I would rather lose every game and hope changes be made in the offseason.

I just can't stomach another year of this

Expectations of winning needs to start some time.  Keep kicking the can down the road and we’ll never have expectations of winning.

As far as I am concerned every player should be playing for their jobs right now, and developing kids on the big team doesn’t allow that.

That’s why I hope we don’t win the lottery. Because if that possibility arrises, they’d take it, and they’d indeed then wait that long

    Absolutely not

I too fear anything that incentives extending the timeline.
